What do you guys think? Can this be done? Here's a basic breakdown of my classes this semester:

Physical Geology and Lab (5 Units)
Art History (3 Units)
Business 1 (3 Units) *Online
Accounting 1 (5 Units) *Online
Economics 2 (3 Units)
English 101 (3 Units) *Online

The reason why I'm taking all the online classes is because I registered at this particular CC pretty late and most of the classes available start next month and are online. I'm taking a lot of units because the Geology and Art History courses are at a different CC and they only accumulate to 8 units. I'll be applying for the Pell Grant and I need to be a full-time student (12 units) at one college.

So is pulling off a 4.0 with 22 units a feasible task if I'm not working or doing anything else but studying? Any study tips/advice? Or should I just ditch the Pell Grant to save my GPA and just apply for Cal Grant in January?

The most time-consuming classes in that list will be Accounting and English. Accounting is easy but it's a real time-sink, you absolutely have to do the work in order to learn the material and it takes forever. English is a time sink for me with all the writing. Business 1 is pretty easy; it's mostly vocabulary. Art and Geology are pretty much going to be rote learning. Bottle up info a day or two before the test than spit it out and hope you remember it in the finals. I would expect those to be the toughest finals. If Econ 2 is anything like Econ 1, its pretty easy. Just take good notes and apply common sense.
Your schedule is pretty similar to mine, load-wise:

Econ 2 (3)
English 102 (3)
Chem 1 w / Lab (5)
Pre-Calc (3)
Spanish 2 w/ Lab (5)

20 units..
Your plan is definitely doable. Me personally, I'd drop the Art History for some breathing room but that's just me.

some of the classes seem pretty hard. here's a tip
when are you starting again? well this is my 3rd week and i already got behind. get your books or whatever you need right away so that you can be ready the first day. especially since your taking 22 units. I made the mistake of not buying my books on time and waiting until the last minute to do all assignments. don't procrastinate.

I have my first essay for english 101 due monday and i'm barely starting it. we're supposed to have a copy finished by tomorrow for classmate review.

classes i'm taking

Art History 110(3 units)
English 101(3 units)
Beginning acting(3 units)
Psychology 101(3 units)
Tennis(1 unit)
History of Mexico(3 units)
Math 15E-Trigonometry refresher(1 unit)(online)

do you guys know if c.c. have courses during winter break before spring semester begins?

i'm taking 23 units right now with Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus. Its pretty much a breeze but it might be because i used to goto a UC. CC classes are much easier especially the online classes.

easy. I took 5 online classes, including biz and accounting at the same time. The accounting stuff is really easy online , you have book access and google search.

All those online classes will be easy and not that time consuming as you think. Just keep up .

Your classes are very doable for a 4.0 I would only worry about the online accounting class as Ive heard horror stores from friends in my acct1 class about the online class they took and failed. They mostly failed because the test was hard , or they didn't pay attention to it since it was online.

Possible though that load of online classes might make you slack off a bit. But I agree with usmc_izzy about dropping geology or art history. You said you signed up for classes late, so I'm guessing your teachers might be a little harder than average (though I don't know if online classes have a limit). Add that to the fact that it's your first semester (i think), and it might get pretty stressful, not to mention a bad start if you mess up. Also I'm guessing you're still aiming for Haas since you're taking business 1, in which case you should be putting in some time into extra-curriculars as well.

Okay, sorry for the late reply guys. Basically I'm even considering taking the Econ 2 class because I figure I'll need to stay at home as much as possible because I'm taking 22 units and the commute is like an hour. The only thing holding me back I guess is that the online professors don't seem to be too good.

I'd rather keep the art history class because I took the same professor before and I know exactly what to expect on the midterm and final and what I need to do for an A. The geology professor seems pretty easy and chill from what I've seen and heard so it seems like I can pull off an A there too.

This question might seem arbitrary, but how many hours (aside from class) do you guys expect I'd have to spend studying every week? Most schools have a system that's basically 2 hours for every unit, but I hardly think that's true.

I would also REALLY appreciate some more study tips/advice. This is my first semester, so I'm trying not to royally screw myself over. Also, I really am piling it on my first semester which might make some of my other semesters seem light in comparison (13 and 14 units), but I am taking full advantage of winter and summer sessions. Do you guys think schools will look down on this (particularly Berkeley Haas)?
