IceQube, now THAT was inspiring. Your PSAT score freshmen year is close to mine (I got a 162). Now, I hope that I can improve like you did.

If that works. Seriously, I’ll be on my way to victory! Haha. IceQube, did you study nonstop? What was your SAT prep plan (PSAT as well)?

Dorkyelmo, what’s your score?

My SAT is in the range of 1800-2000.
And I never passed the 2100 mark.

How about yours ^

Nothingto, I know what Amazon.com is, that’s why I referred you to it. You said you don’t live near a book store and your library has a limited selection. Yes, books on Amazon are cheap. Therefore one could afford to buy several recommended books without looking inside.

^Cheap in the sense that it is a better price then most other retailers. Not cheap in the sense that I can buy recommended books when I feel like it. Im not that rich, and my family income is lower then average. Buying the BB, Dr Chung, and some others are probably the only thing I might use since I already bought them. Thank god my school gives out free codes to the CollegeBoard Online Course, and a Kaplan course. However, those are only available to Juniors, and some exceptions to Sophomores (so I hope I get the CB Online Course since I am a rising sophomore).

But I know you said it in good intentions, so thanks for the suggestion though. I just wish I caught the BB sale ($11) in the right time rather then paying $21.50 a while back.

gosh im in the SAME situation. my sat prep place is really not helping me much and my score is stuck at 2000 and i wanted to go to 2300+ and now i don’t know if that’s possible since i’m taking the test in october…i don’t know how to study so much - i get distracted really easily. but i like HAVE to get a good score the first time around or ill be stuck studying for the rest of the year for the tests and not getting to do my other extracurriculars or hanging out or anything :(

^^ CollegeBoard is a good source. Have you signed up for the SAT question of the day? Spending a few minutes a day on an SAT question from Collegeboard could help in the long term and it’s free. Good luck!

^Ohiomom, I frequently go as much as I can. However, I forget some days to go. I just cant grip my head about how I can sign up for it. I never got e-mails from them when I registered for e-mails :(

But thanks!

My score is effin’ dropping! ■■■ >:O

^^ Try again. I even get them sent to my e-mail addess daily. I was curious to see what type of questions they send.

@IceQube, which Gruber’s book is it specifically. People keep on posting different Gruber’s books, and now I’m not sure which exact on it is for math. Is it the workbook, complete guide, 2400…etc?

Which McGraw-Hill book are you talking about? Is it called McGraw-Hill’s 12 SAT Practice Tests with PSAT, 2ed. I also had the almost the same score as you for freshman PSAT (currently a rising sophomore). Could you please list all of the books you used to achieve your current score? Also, how did you study…like did you have a study plan??

What are the best non CB tests for cr. I wanna devote some time everyday for CR but i need to know which practice tests that are not cb have some cr sections that can really help me.

livelikeali:

I’m speaking of the Gruber’s Complete Guide and the McGraw Hill SAT 2012 book (not the one with 12 tests) :).

Here is a list of the books I am using:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/13047282-post5.html

what do you think of Barron’s 2400? Have you ever used it??

^I have used Barron’s 2400, and here are my thoughts:

1) The vocab in the CR section of the book is HARD. I don’t usually miss any vocab questions, but I missed half the vocab questions in Barron’s.

2) The writing section is useful :).

3) I can’t speak for the math section - haven’t used it.

^ If you can, how would you compare Barrons 2400’s writing section to the Writing Workbook by Barrons?

The Writing Workbook is more comprehensive. It even has 4 full-length writing practice tests.

The writing section in B-2400 is short, but hard ;).

does the Gruber’s Math Workbook have the same math as the Complete guide inside of it. Because I have the Workbook, but I don’t have the complete guide…
