2400 SAT...Chance me!!

you seem as set as you can be for all your schools. i don't get why you have university of washington above WashU but that's your choice.

the only thing hurting you is that your asian, and the fact that you do seem to come off as a numbers whore. other than that you look fine to me.

Does being Asian really hurt people's chances for admission? And why?

asians are smart?
no offense, but when we think of a smart person, we think that person is asian.
;)

basically colleges have quotas for diversity, so asians have only a certain number of spots a certain university. On average, asians have more competitive SAT/GPA/EC's than other races; therefore, its much harder to gain entrance to a university. It definitely doesnt affect admissions as much as many people on these boards think it does. Its not as if hordes of underqualified non-asian applicants are being selected over top asian students...

Ego masturbation. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. ;) You have a great shot at all of your schools. Though the more competitive (HYSP) are not a certain guarantee.

i lol'ed at this.

Will you marry me? On the steps of Widener.

I agree that she will do great. But compared to students applying for schools like HYPS, columbia, MIT, GT etc..., she just doesnt stand out... That's not to say that she won't get accepted, she probably will at many of those places. But I don't think her stats are revolutionary.

We're only in high school - I doubt that more than 1% of applicants have ever done anything truly "revolutionary."

Exactly why people shouldn't be awe-ing over her stats, because it isn't. And in this competition towards admission, if it is not "revolutionary" it wont stand out.

"she's a leader not only in her school, but in her entire area - she's president of a major organization, and is going to be editor of a teen newspaper."

I don't know but that doesn't seem like anything new.

" On average, asians have more competitive SAT/GPA/EC's than other races; therefore, its much harder to gain entrance to a university. It definitely doesnt affect admissions as much as many people on these boards think it does."

Then why we you repeating stuff like that?

...
lol. need i say more?

Don't apply to Tufts...

You're not Chinese and nobody can randomly come up with a user name that means "life is a joke" in hindi(Indian Language). Please refrain from such ridiculous posts .

You're right baseball, I'm Indian and fluent Hindi and missed that!

Original Poster is a liar, yesterday she started a thread about NYU and stated: "so basically i have a 4.0, 5's on five ap tests so far, 2220+ sats, most likely will get national merit, and my extracurriculars are pretty decent (show that i've pursued my passions rather than trying to "look good" for college)".

Why bother lying about your stats in a chance thread? haha get alife you moron.

1)Harvard - waitlist/reject
2)Stanford - waitlist/reject
3)Princeton - waitlist/reject
4)UCLA - waitlist/accept
5)UC Berkeley - waitlist/accept
6) Yale - waitlist/reject
7)MIT - reject
8) Georgetown - waitlist/accept
9) Columbia - waitlist/accept
10) University of Washington - waitlist/accept
11)Cornell - waitlist/accept
12)WUSTL - waitlist/accept

just my $.02, i don't think that putting "2400 SAT" in her title makes her stuck up or pretentious. and asking her chances doesn't either. there's a lot of uncertainty for all rising seniors regarding colleges admissions - even for 2400 SAT scorers. i remember. what's wrong if she just honestly wants other peoples' opinions? people on this site are too harsh sometimes.

ok. so i think you'll get into all of them, but the ones i'm least sure about are "harvard, stanford, MIT, and WUSTL"

Not necessarily at all of them, HYPS admissions are weird these days and I don't really see you getting in at MIT since the only math/ science related activities that I see are AP's. Good shot at the rest...

i want you to die for this thread...true story

Your scores are obviously flawless; no need to take additional SATII's if you were thinking about doing so.

Things to think about as you start writing your application:

1) Give your application a focal point. It looks like you're pretty into the whole leadership/service shabang. Your leadership at the school and regional level certainly demonstrate that. Can you develop your application around your abilities as a leader?

2) Come up with ideas for your essays as soon as possible. It looks like you'll be busy come senior year, what with all those activities and APs. Get your essays out of the way first so you aren't juggling too many things at once.

3) Relax and enjoy your senior year. A positive attitude can work wonders when it comes to inspiration for essays. Plus, you don't want to look stressed/frazzled when you do interviews (of which you'll have many, it looks like).

Good luck.
