2400 SAT I and 2200 SAT IIs or vice versa?

i would have like 2250 SATI/2350 SAT II

@ bicyclekick: Thank you. :)

I know it looks kind of pathetic that I post stuff like this... I guess it's just because I want reassurance about the things on my application that my OCD tells me aren't good enough. But I guess I have to step back and look at things and realize that there's not a lot else I can do, and that it's not worth it to worry.

I'm sure you'll end up somewhere amazing too (PLME would be crazy to turn you down)... good luck!!

Haha Poseur, at least you are honest! Good luck with your apps

if 2200 is supposedly the benchmark for sat1, then what's the benchmark for sat2?

imo sat2 benchmark is 2250; and I think it goes down to 2100 for SAT 1. It seems that most kids who get into top schools will have at least 750's in the subject tests. Of my two boys the one with 2400 subject tests was deferred and the one with higher SAT1 and class rank got in.

It makes NO difference. Nada. Once you're at that level forget the numbers and try be the most interesting person you can be.

2200 sat1 and 3950 sat2 (5 subjects)
vs
2350 sat1 and 2300 sat2 (3 subjects)

which one is better?

Or how about:

2330 SAT1 and 2380 SAT2
vs.
2390 SAT1 and 2330 SAT2

How about this one, guys (it's real):

2340 SAT + 2250 SAT II or 2280 SAT + 2310 SAT II?

^mine was real too

Oh, in that case, I'd take the 2390 SAT I + 2330 SAT II. It's a personal thing more than a college thing. I'd say colleges would prefer the 2330 SAT I and 2380 SAT II.

lol mine was real too!

Sorry if I'm missing something, since I didn't read the whole thread, but I was wondering... I have a 2370 SAT-I and 2400 SAT-II (physics, math II-C, US history). Regardless of which is "better," which is more common, the 2370 or 2400?

Oh, and at the last question: I'd take the 2330/2380, since I've heard colleges look at most SAT scores over a certain point as basically the same.

The 2370 SAT I is rarer than 2400 SAT II.

I'd say a 2300 SAT1 is rarer than a 2400 SATII. It was certainly harder for me to get 2320 than a 2400 SATII (on subjects like Lit and Physics)

2370 is certainly rarer....

and nobody has answered my qn above at #67 ><

Wow - from all the responses from smart people it's amazing how almost everyone is missing the point about numbers at this level being meaningless. "Tunnel Vision" -- perhaps that is why our society is in such despair. Based on what I know, it is rare for colleges to find kids our age who are able to see the big picture. THAT is what top-tier colleges are looking for... and THAT is why some kids with much lower stats will get in over those with much higher numbers.

It's that simple.

"2200 sat1 and 3950 sat2 (5 subjects)
vs
2350 sat1 and 2300 sat2 (3 subjects)"

3950 over 5 tests = 790 average? I think I'd take that; i shows you can learn lots of things.

and in response to 2100 hopes: haha, very true. And for the record I got deferred so obviously Yale sees it the same way you do ;)

Do you really need to crap on us high scorers? Can't you allow us our small victory in the grand scheme of life?

Arachnotron--

Your high score is a BIG victory -- just make sure you soar with it, not hide behind it.

And don't kill the messenger.

P.S. If it makes you feel better, I am a high scorer too.
