A question about how much SATII is worth.

Are the SAT Subject Tests important enough to make a significant difference? I'm sure it can be the deciding factor if they're spectacular, but, how much are they weighted compared to the SATI?

For example: which would be better? 2300 SATI + 750/750/750 SATII or 2400 SATI + 700/700/700?

I would say the second because 2400 is so very rare.

No, the first would do better. They proved that they rock on multiple days with multiple subjects. The second proved they got lucky once. Still, both are in excellent shape for HYPMS.

A 2400 blows 750s on subject tests out of the water. I'd be more impressed with the second.

After 2300, it really doesn't make a difference what it is. Higher scores on subject tests (and by 50 points at that!) is much more impressive, no doubt. The difference between a 2400 and a 2300 can be 3 questions. But a 50 point difference on THREE subject tests shows that the candidate has knowledge of different subjects.

I'm looking for what the colleges think, not just peers (of course a 2400 if it was peer).

I'm guessing the first seems more impressive?

I guess a better example would be 2200 SATI + 750/750/750 SATII or 2300 SATI + 700/700/700 because we don't have the "2400 is rare" factor.

Still the first. (the 750 kid) but like I said, both are in excellent shape.

it depends on the satii's...a 750iic means you had to miss like 10 questions and actually shows a lower level of ability whereas between 750 and 800 on the sati math is missing maybe one or two possibly for stupid reasons

iic is harder material, and for a 750 it means you missed like 5 tops. I missed 4 and got a 780

Forgot to add that I answered 52 out of 55 so I got a raw score of 47 i believe.

a 2340 + is equal to a 2400 due to the error of +- 50 odd points that can arise. So, the second is def. better as any moron in 8th grade can score a 750+ in SAT 1 math but not in SAT II math

sorry, the first is better

^Don't you mean the first then? (The first is stronger in SATII)
