can you please give me a link to a thread about math or subject tests? ^^

@Reckie I got an email from Collegeboard saying that my test center is closed on Saturday and i checked my school’s website and it said that the test is moved to the 17th. So if you didnt get an email yet them your test is still saturday.
Plus a couple of NY closings are posted on the collegeboard website.

Well thats weird. If you dont hear anything soon about the new date then you should call customer service ( 1866-756-7346).

Hey Reckie I have a math strategy for you. I was a lot like you my junior year I never could get a 640+ Try looking at each problem without seeing if you can just ‘solve it’ and getting turned off if you don’t get the answer quickly. That’s what I used to do. But with no math prep I went in with a different mindset: I will treat every problem as if it is an interesting puzzle and think of the things you do have, think of the things you don’t. Then find some way to put them together. Be a pragmatist, look at each problem differently. Went to a 720 with that philosophy, I made TWO careless mistakes, so I should’ve really made a 770 or so.

@asian, thanks man.

Sat is overmorrow!
Today gotta finish my hw by 8(3 hours), and then I’m finish off maybe 4 writing sessions( 2 35q’s and 2 14 q’s) and hopefully 6 cr sections. Might not have enough time…
Tomorrow I’ll take the 1st bluebook test, and sleep at 930. Good luck all.

I feel like such a prevaricator when I take practice exams. Even if I do fine, I always feel that my score was a happy occurrence than an actual accomplishment.

:(

I don’t really have much confidence in myself.

I don’t know if this is comforting but one of my friends who consistently got 2250-2350 on the bluebook test ended up getting a 2100! I guess we’ll all find out how we work under pressure on saturday…

Edit: Not to say 2100 is a bad score, just very different from the practice tests.

Good Luck to everyone still taking it on Saturday - just found out mine has been moved to November 17th…

@ecouter11 - Have Confidence!!!

I really wish my school was closed. Another 2 weeks would be sooo helpful to me as I procrastinated a little. But alas, I live in California :/

So I was just going through the archetypes thread and realised I got nothing, absolutely no examples for first two. Help me out anyone? I haven’t read a lot so please don’t name a book.

–Following the Crowd

Do people need to compare themselves with others in order to appreciate what they have?
Are widely held views often wrong, or are such views more likely to be correct?
Is there any value for people to belong only to a group or groups with which they have something in common?
Is it always best to determine one’s own views of right and wrong, or can we benefit from following the crowd?
Is it more valuable for people to fit in than to be unique and different?
Are people more likely to be productive and successful when they ignore the opinions of others?

–Following Authority

Should we pay more attention to people who are older and more experienced than we are?
Should society limit people’s exposure to some kinds of information or forms of expression?
Can a group of people function effectively without someone being in charge?
Is it important to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority?
Should society limit people’s exposure to some kinds of information or forms of expression?
Is education primarily the result of influences other than school?
Should schools help students understand moral choices and social issues?

When u stuck for examples u can just try to make up any example as if its a personal experience.
And btw it does work.
Its not dangerous to use “I”

I agree with farouz, if you’re absolutely stuck, then you can just make up a personal example. For the following the crowd/authority ones, I would try to think of some famous people who have done things their own way or gone against the norm - no matter what areas you’re familiar with, there must be someone who would be a good example of this.

Last day to study - what are you guys doing to prepare? I’m going to take a practice test (maybe 2), do some last-minute research for essay examples, and go to bed super early so I can get lots of sleep :)

My last day:
Review over everything. Go ahead and get things ready for tomorrow so I don’t have to go treasure hunting around the house tomorrow morning. Possibly take a practice test. Go to bed early! Oh, and have a good mindset! :)

Do anyone got any writing thread to go through before the test?

I think I’ve done all the preparation I possibly can and now I’m going to sleep. Good luck on the test tomorrow, everyone! You can do it! :)

Good night and good luck! Sleeping at 950, not bad (although I was aiming for 830 but thats ok! :))

PS: Don’t talk about the test until after 2:00 **PST/b. I think by that time everyone’s tests will be over (I’m pretty sure my cali time is the last one.)

Well, I showed up to the testing site and so did about 10 other people (out of around 30-something)… the proctor comes in and tells us that late last night, there was a CB e-mail sent out saying that the site had been rescheduled because of hurricane Sandy. (Just know that being in SC, all we got from Sandy was crazy wind, even though we are on the east coast.) So, we wait until 8am when CB is open and she calls them and asks if she did still administer the test to those that showed up if the scores would count…well, the woman said yes. The CB Rep also stated that those who did check their e-mail late last night or early this morning could attend the make-up test on Nov. 17. I asked the proctor if I could cross my name off and come back on the 17th, and I can/did! Now I have an extra two weeks of prep time! I have no idea why they just now decided to “close” the tests in SC, other than the fact that we are on the east coast and Sandy was an east coast-er too! Good luck to everyone who is taking it! :)
