26 days until the November SAT

In the prompts about technological development, can i use examples like Air pollution, Global warming and other environmental concerns resulting from technological development?

For example, in the prompt " Is the world changing for the better", can i say that modern inventions have resulted in serious environmental concerns like global warming and man’s quest of more and more urbanisation is clearing up forests resulting in food shortage? Hence, world is not changing for the better.

So, can i use these type of examples in techonolgy related prompts?

@marie96 maths in my view is very very easy section of SAT! you just need to apply your basic maths concept! keep your confidence high read questions carefully and answer what is asked!! thats all! i have taken more than 8 SAt practice tests and always got maths score above 750! yo may refer to Barron’s SAT book for maths tricks! and all the best!!

but talking about my CR and W sections , i am very poor with these things! i have never crossed 650 with writing and 500 with CR!!

Just an update. No power still. School has been closed until Thursday. Haven’t been able to study. Not sure if they will pospone the SAT, but if they don’t I may not take it.

@snowbrood, for that prompt your examples seem doable. Remember it’s not as much about which side you take rather how well you are able to back up the one you do. If I had that particular prompt I would say yes because… Steve Jobs/Apple, how technology improves peoples lives, and probably a third example about prostetic limbs or something.

Just remember to write 2 full pages, 3 examples if possible, one : and one ; and write neat!

I’m taking the November SAT too! First time, junior in high school. I’m kinda scared after a bunch of people that I know didn’t do that great on the October SAT(except for a few) even though we were getting about the same scores beforehand.

Main problem is CR here; writing too, but sometimes I spasm and get all of them right, and sometimes -6! Hoping for a 2300+, 2200+ would be ok too though.

What are you guys gonna do for prep from now on? I still have to do the first sat bluebook test, and I have a couple writing/CR sections to practice. Other than that, gonna get a good sleep.

I’m a junior as well. I don’t really know what to say about my preparation. It’s kind of unorthodox. I’m just reading as much about grammar as i possibly can. It actually gets interesting after a bit!

For CR, I highly recommend the CR tips thread that talks about right/wrong answers and Direct Hits + any word you don’t know.

For math, someone recently posted a set of videos that apparently take just 3 hours to watch yet boost scores 300 points. I might try them tomorrow if I get time.

For me, the biggest thing is that I sometimes make silly mistakes by not reading the question or getting temporarily distracted or something. I think I’ll work on this by underlining what each question asks.

What makes this worse is that I have school exams and events going on at the same time O_O. I’m totally exhausted.

Please grade my essay!

Prompt: Is creativity needed more than ever in the real word today?

Throughout the history of human race, competition has prevailed. People need to face their opponents astutely to leave behind an indelible mark. The growing population today has made the competition fiercer. In order to succeed people have to display their creativity. This notion is clearly evinced in the realms of history and current events.

The statement that creativity is needed to succeed becomes evident in the actions of steve jobs to develop his company Apple. In the early years of its formation, Steve jobs was primarily concerned with the development of personnel computers. He developed several forms of computers like Apple1, apple2, lisa and Mcintosh. These computers revolutionized the world. But, at that time, several other companies sprang out which also started to manufacture personnel computers. Microsoft, one of these companies, made a better version of personnel computer with windows 95. This plummeted the sales of the Apple products. As a result, the value of the shares of Apple deteriorated. Steve Jobs was infuriated. He after a lot of thoughts came up with a creative idea to make Apple an electronic consumer giant. His creative ideas led him to develop other electronic products apart from computers. He used his shrewd thinking to discern that at that time music industry was thrilling. So, with his profound knowledge of electronics he came up with music related products like ipods. These products increased the value of Apples’ shares, as the sales of apple products mounted. Thus, Steve jobs’ unparalleled creative ideas brought his company Apple back on track.

The struggle of students today to make into the top tier colleges also demonstrates the importance of creativity. The unprecedented increase in number of students applying to top colleges has resulted in strong competition. Consequently, students today, along with good academic record need creativity to make a difference. Top colleges, today, require students to write essays on creative topics. The students need to be perspicacious to come up with quality creative essays. With low acceptance rates, top colleges require students to come up with unique works to secure a place. Therefore, we need creativity more than ever today to make our future brighter.

After a careful analysis of Steve Jobs’ actions and the interminable competition today in top colleges, one can clearly see that in order to succeed at the top level, people need to display staggering creativity. Without creativity, one can hardly make an impact today.

Another update. Drove up to Pennsylvania to my second house. There is power here! School has been cancelled the entire week. Unless CB postpones the SAT I’ll most likely skip this one and study hard for December. I hate leaving my fate to a single sitting, but driving back to NY when we don’t have power there doesn’t make much sense just to take a test I’m not prepared for. Anyways… thanks Sandy!

@Reckie,
I hope CB just postpones the SAT so you can still take it for Nov…
Leaving it up to just Dec. is pretty risky imo.

So far, I haven’t studied in the past 2 days because I was cramming for a Bio exam that I’m pretty sure that I bombed…all of the 4-5 choices looked correct to me!

Butttt, I have from now until Saturday morning to study for the test! Studyflowwww.

@Marie, thanks! We drove around our neighborhood and barely any trees were down, and then you look at my house and it looks like a nuke went off. Like 6 gigantic trees ripped up with the entire ground, 10x worse than anyone else. $6000+ to clean it up.

I don’t want to leave it down to December either… but it’s not really my choice at this point.

SATs day after tomorrow!! Gosh I’m scared. Any suggestions for the last 2 days?

@Snowbrood,
Essay: 5.

@Reckie,
Wow, now I’m glad we got rid of all our trees in the front and back yard! Other than the tree problem, are there any other damages?

@Ssparkk,
I can’t believe it’s almost here! I’m nervous, focused, and a little bit hungry… Anyways, I suggest to do a lot of review. Review over everything (tips, tricks, and concepts), including information that you may already know.

Well - just took a practice test. 800 for CR, 730 for W, and 620 for M - pretty good!

Keep reviewing everyone! I’m sure we can do it ;)!

Ok after all …
I feel not ready at all !

Just finished a practice test
Writing-580
Math-500
Critical-440

I can do better in writing /:
And no idea what to do to improve in critical :S
Like NO idea …
I guess math with practcing more its gonna work. Hope so.
But I have no hope in critical …

Have you read this?

But on the plus side, I’ve heard that some dates for the SAT have been pushed over cuz of the hurricane in NY. So now i have two more weeks to study for the SAT which is the only good thing that came from this storm imo.

SAT in 2 days! Managed to bump up my critical reading and maths to high 600s, would you say those are sufficient enough to get into Dartmouth and Stanford?
This really helped so definitely recommend it to anyone struggling with CR

I’ve been through all the tests in the SAT official book and it seems that human rights topics are really frequent! You think that’ll be the same on Saturday?

I’ll find out tomorrow what’s happening with the test, but this really does suck.

@Deb, High 600’s is not good enough for dartmouth or stanford. You’d be around the 25th percentile of people. You might have a shot if you have a 4.0 GPA or close to it, an insane essay, and your a minority or have some really really good EC’s.

@Flower, Where did you hear this?

is anybody taking Math level 2 or Physics this Saturday?

@konspace, there’s a specific section for SAT II’s.
