Well I guess it's less than a week now. Wonder what the hit rate will be on the server shortly after midnight.

I was thinking about that a few days ago. Everyone is waiting for decisions between the 28th and the 1st and 2nd. It's going to be MAD! to relief some pressure, I'm going to report my decision and go party offline and then see the damage of post and such when everyone is gone to bed since I've been a night owl lately anyway.

Thought I'd give you guys some advice, decisions basiucally go out around midnight for those who get in, through email by the way last decision the application status portal was not availiable for two days due to high amounts of traffic.....so dont go to sleep if you wanna know whether or not you got in, if you were placed in summer you're email goes out around 10 am the next day, and if you were deffered or rejected you email comes in the late afternoon-or through the mail.

FSU thanks, she will check after midnight for sure, that's what we did for the other schools.

Does the accept go out at 10:00 also

actually i found out about my acceptance a day early around 6pm because I was messing around in the housing application area, inputted my info, and it said 'According to our records you have been accepted to FSU'. So try that out?

^Thanks for the info, makes sense that they would have that info loaded so that applications could be processed quickly.

Yep, the Housing backdoor works. ;)

^ When do you think the backdoor works? I tried it this morning

do colleges tend to send applicants stuff before they even get a decision? None of the schools I applied to have. After I got accepted
I got alot of stuff from them though (the norm).

UCF sends out little postcards with inspirational sayings throughout the waiting period. FSU did send out a calendar to my son before he applied. After he was accepted, besides getting various letters and information, the student ambassadors called a number of times to answer any questions and encourage him to accept admission.

Ohh, unless you place yourself on the mailing list I dont think they'll send much mail. I'm glad because with all the junk mail from the colleges who are trying to get you to apply and credit card offers and stuff, I rather not.

You will get lots of offers for credit cards and loans. Just shred them and throw them away. There is hardly anything more stressful than being in debt. Students with no income are offered so much credit, it is really horrifying.

Why do they do it if they know we'll be in debt if we use them?

They like making $$ money $$ on the interest you pay if you don't pay the whole balance off each month. They also make money from the $$ fees $$ they charge the stores when you use the cards. You are a whole new batch of consumers they want to attract, easy prey.

Wow, thats sick. Lol I'm scared of the amount of loans I'm going to have to take out to go to school.

bbecker, you have to be respectful of debt, but maybe not scared of your college loans. there is good debt and bad debt. Cybermom gave you a good exposure to bad debt, high interest rates, minimum payments and it's debt that you can't deduct once you start working. College loans are generally considered to be good debt, the rates are typically low, the payback period is long and they can be deducted. Unless you leave graduate from Columbia with 150K in loans most kids when they start working don't get into difficulty with their debt load.

When you compare what you pay in Florida as opposed to other public and private schools it's actually a very good bargain. I hope that you are taking advantage of every possible amount of aide and scholarship money that is avaliable to you.

I am but I know its not going to cover everything.

CLEP, AP/IB and dual enrollment credits are another good way to lower the amount you have to pay for college. You are able to complete gen. ed. courses without having to pay tuition and fees. You might want to look into becoming an RA so that you get 1/2 off housing and pay. They have other jobs on campus as well.

In addition to regular wages, student employees in a Seminole Dining unit also qualify for an added benefit - meal privileges. Work on-campus, keep your parking space, and receive free meals when you are working. Another idea to save money on food.

Did you look into seeing if you qualify for this?
