yeah I live in south florida so I hope it will take a bit longer...I probably won't get one and I shouldn't be getting my hopes up

There's a lot more information about Dartmouth's likely letters on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=148412 . Although most RD applicants who are accepted don't get likely letters, there's probably still another week or two, or 'till whenever mid-March is, when likely letters will be mailed out.

"I really wish I never saw this likely letter post...it makes me anxious and disappointed every day I get the mail"

I second you on that one! It's amazing how stressful this process can be, isn't it?

Anyway, congrats to everyone who has recieved a likely, and best of luck to everyone else who's still waiting. Worst case scenario, we'll have to wait another 24 days or so to find out. I think we can live. But still, here's to hoping!

yea i agree...ignorance is bliss. without this sight i would be totally oblivious to the existence of these likely letters and many other things just like everyone else...

Hold out hope - and if you are admitted rd without a likely letter, don't measure yourself against the likely letter standard and feel unqualified. As you said, a group of wonderful people will get in without a likely letter and some wondeful people won't get in at all. Dartmouth would not admit anyone they did not think will succeed - and for probably indiscernable reasons, are going to reject people who they feel could succeed.

out of curiosity, what were your ecs, hooks, etc. (no test scores) for those who got a likely?
