3.0 Unweighted GPA 1st Semester Senior Year

I'm doing awful this semester, and am expecting somewhere around a 3.0 unweighted. I am taking 4 APs, but my grades have extremely regressed.

Are my chances of getting in RD pretty much dead?

3.5 GPA unweighted (going into senior year)
1470/1600 SAT
Decent ECs (nothing special)
Excellent essays
Pretty solid recs
Most rigorous courseload

Baby turn around, and let me see that big fat booty go BUMP BUMP BUMP.

You're at the average of "competitive." You should be good as long as your essays are written in English, coherent, and not off-putting.

Damn, good to hear.

Unfortunately, there are like around 8 kids applying to USC from my school.

Last year, we only went 2/11.

Any other input...I'm still kinda concerned about dropping around a 3.0 GPA.

I talked to a counselor about GPA and he said it really depends. A 3.0 might be all B's or it might be a combination of grades.

I asked because I thought I might get a C (I thought C+ to C- range, but I wound up with a B in economics). He said a situation with a preponderance of A's is preferable to a bunch of B's. He said it's a minor preference, but if it's just a bad subject, it's more understandable and it sticks out a little better that you might not be as good in certain subjects.

You still need to keep your GPA as high as possible. Given that you're already in the seventh semester of high school, there's not much you could change. But your test scores are good and you shouldn't be brushed off right away.

Did you already apply?

Just because 2/11 kids went to USC does not mean that only 2 were accepted. You need to know how many from your high school applied and were accepted. A scattergram at your high school counselor's office should be able to tell you how your stats compare to those who were accepted last year.

Yes, I applied before the December 1st scholarship deadline.

No. 2 kids out of 11 from my high school got in to USC. Zero matriculated.

BTW, I go to an elite public HS in Fairfield County, CT (if this matters at all).

The context of your school will factor very little in the grand scheme of things. The application is about you, not your school.

And would your school be any of these? (Rank, School, Town)
