3.4 GPA, which colleges would accept me for Accounting?

Some background info about me...

I have 3.4 cummulative. 4.0 in major. My major is in accounting. I left UCLA 15 years ago under academic probation as a senior. Have no desire to return to finish my music degree. I am taking pre-reqs at my local community college in the San Francisco area.

I'm 40 and am too old to go for the BiG 4 firms. I want to work in government accounting, preferably for the IRS. I don't care about making 6 figures. What is more important to me is making a comfortable salary, job stability, good benefits, and work/life/family balance.

Prestige of the school is moot at this point especially with my gpa. So Haas School of Business and USC is out of my league. I want to go to a AACSB accredited school with a reputable accounting program that will prepare me for the CPA exam. I also dont want to spend an arm and a leg as I have a family to support and a mortgage to pay.

Below is my prospective list of schools. Which schools would I be able to get into considering my gpa and background?

SDSU

SJSU

SFSU

CSUF

UCR

Sac State

Cal Poly SLO

Since you will have the highest chances with the schools that are considered in your service area (due to impaction), you should be fairly “in there” with SFSU and SJSU depending on where exactly you live (SJSU service area is all S Bay counties and doesn’t include SF, but obviously SFSU’s service aea is SF and the one’s immediately surrounding). Of those two, IMO, SJSU will have the more solid program and is AACSB accredited.
