I have a 3.5 gpa in high school for the first semester so far
i am a sophomore
i took my english 2 II and Ap world final today and tomorrow is chemistry
i have a feeling i will do really bad and my grades will stay the same not even rise
i really really really want to go to UCSD
i heard that UCSD stopped transfers from cc so i am really paranoid right now
i don’t know if it’s true that’s what people told me
i am really bad at studying and i usually never do good on any tests
is 3.5 a bad gpa? all my friends are getting like 3.8~4.0
and i’m stuck on a 3.5
i feel so suicidally depressed right now i don’t know what to do
are my chances of getting into UCSD fair?
i haven’t taken sat yet
A 3.5 GPA is not a bad GPA but realistically you need around a 3.9 UC GPA or higher for a solid chance at UCSD along with a competitive SAT 2000+ or ACT of 29+. After Junior year, calculate your UC GPA and see how you stand. Work hard, study hard and do your best.
Here is the link for the UC GPA calculator: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
4% of the UCSD 2013 Freshmen had a GPA below 3.6.
Here’s my concern:
You write that you are suicidally depressed. This is SERIOUS.
This is something that requires immediate attention and it does not have anything to do with getting into UCSD.
You need to see a counselor right away.
Your school has a psychologist accessible to you.
Talk to your guidance counselor and have him/her set up an appointment with the psychologist or he/she can come immediately if needed. The visit is confidential and you can be sure that you will get help.
UCSD didn’t stop transfers. It stopped the TAG (transfer admission agreement). Everyone between a 3.2-3.3 GPA from college gets in unless it’s an impacted major. So don’t worry! Do your best in high school and have fun. It’s not the end of the world, and there’s always the alternate route of community college.
@jojocho if it makes feel better i applied with 3.31 GPA, stay positive and try to do your best. there are many other GREAT schools that you can apply to
no, 3.5 GPA is not bad. Please don’t worry about it because you still get time. You try the best working on GPA and SAT or ACT remain semesters . Also you need to take many AP classes in order bring up your GPA . In fact, no one knows what is going to happen at the end. Good luck!
Just work hard to get it up! It’s still a great GPA .
