3 separate subject areas?

Ok, this is a stupid question. When colleges say that they want SAT II's in three separate subject areas, do they mean that you can't submit US History and World History or are they considered different subject areas? I am just confused because at first, I thought it meant not to submit Bio E and Bio M or math II C and Math I.

In June, my son took Bio E, US History and World History.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Hmmm, didn't know that any school was so specific, but I would take it as different subjects, such as outlined on college board as:
English: Literature
History and Social Studies: U.S. History and World History
Mathematics: Math Level 1 and Math Level 2
Science: Biology E/M, Chemistry, and Physics
Languages: Chinese w/ Listening, French, French w/ Listening, German, German w/ Listening, Spanish, Spanish w/ Listening, Modern Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Japanese w/ Listening, and Korean w/ Listening

So my best bet is your son is going to have to take another subject test in either english, math or languages.

yes definitely have your son take another subject area--recommend Math

Yea I would agree, I especially like Math Level 2.

His specialties are history, English/Lit, and Sciences. I think he is leaning toward Literature. Why do you recommend the math? thanks

many schools that require SAT II's generally want variety of subjects..the usual three being math, science, and literature/social sci/language. you should contact the school and find out which ones they require. We just don't want any dumb mistakes in missing out on his requirements to even be considered an applicant to the school.

Also many universities only require 2 subject tests (since writing is now part of the SAT I), and Bio and History are clearly two different subject areas. Definitely check with each individual university he wants to apply to.

world history and us history are considered same subjects because they are both social sciences. An example of different subjects would be: world history and english.

OR biology and math.

Biology and physics would also be considered the same subject because they are both sciences.
