30 ACT, NMF, 1500+ Comm service, 4.0 UW, 4.7 W....but waitlisted?

I am involved in a lot of ECs like SGA and Sci O (and four years and state medals each year for Sci O)

I've been accepted to seemingly much harder schools to get in to, and I'm from florida.

I really wanted to go to Wake....any ideas why I could have gotten waitlisted?

Did you interview? If so, how do you think it went? How were your letters of recommendation? Your stats seem on target for Wake, but thus, if you’re very similar to all of the other candidates, the tiniest thing could make or break an acceptance. Just remember, not all admits will enroll, so there is a chance to get off of the waitlist. At least you weren’t flat-out rejected.

Wake Forest also received over 11,300 applications (up 16% from last year)–judging by the number of accepted students last year, it looks like the acceptance rate was pushed to about 35%. At that point it is a numbers game and there are more qualified applicants then spots.

If you are still interested, I’d get in touch with the admissions office. They will be able to shed more insight regarding the waitlist situation this year.

Best of luck.

Yo bro! I had a 4.4 33 ACT and I got waitlisted. Haters gona hate, too bad im in at UCLA doe!! Gf wake forest were too cool for them 8-|

I did not have an interview but had great letter of recs :P

I’m pretty sure interviews are mandatory for applying to Wake. Wake really looks for personality in your application-- hence the challenging and creative essay questions. If you didn’t interview that probably didn’t show as much commitment to the school as other kids who travelled to interview/did it online.

i was accepted to wake, and offered two scholarships without an interview. I don’t think the interview was waited very heavily this year.

Not having an interview is a serious no-no at Wake. They really are looking to see what your personality is like. Perhaps it was a combination of that and other factors, such as essays or something? Also, sometimes admissions decisions are surprising - I had the same situation happen to me with other schools so I know how you feel.

If you are really intent on going to Wake, write them a letter & show heavy interest. Best of luck.

My son was accepted to Wake Forest. He has a 5.0 GPA, 1700 SAT, & he’s 2nd in his class. He also has 7000+ hours of community/volunteer service. Along w/ this he played full-time football, full-time baseball>>(on 2 teams–1 during football season) & he won the NC State Heisman Award in 2011. He wants to be an Orthopedic Surgeon. He did not do any interviews w/ Wake Forest.

If you got wait listed that’s ok…accept the wait list. My son may decide to go to UNC-Chapel Hill. You could possibly get his spot. Chin up!
