I just got a 33 on the third time I took the ACT (Sept) and I was wondering if it's worth it to spend the next month or so just to get that 35, if I am aiming to apply to a few ivies, instead of using that time for essays and such? I mean I'm pretty sure I can raise it but would it look bad to take the ACT more than 3 times?

Also the reason it took me this long to get a 33 is b/c of the stupid reading section, but I got it up 12+ points this time..

A 33 is just average for Ivies sadly, you probably want to raise your score. The schools will only see your other scores if you send them.

If you have already taken it 3 times, don’t bother.

^I second the above statement. I feel that once you have taken it so many times, it is very hard to increase your score. Especially once you get up into the 34-35-36 region. Also, a 33 is well in the mid 50% range for ACT scores for any ivy.

megh, the only reason I didn’t get a 34 last time is because I had to go to the bathroom real bad during the Math section. So I rushed and missed my chance at a 36 (which I got on June). So I have a 34 superscore but it’s nothing important.
But I guess you guys are right, taking it again would be meaningless.

I disagree somewhat. You said you improved to a 33 right? If you got a 33 on all three tests, then yeah I would agree that your score wouldn’t go up. But if you improved that much (12 points on one section), there is still potential for more improvement, IMO. When you plateau is when you should stop. Of course, it is up to you on whether or not you want to use your time preparing or working on apps.
