35 ACT vs 2060 SAT

New update! And it’s an exciting one for me

San Jose State University: Accepted

Next update!
UC Davis: Accepted, and I got their Regent’s Scholarship ($30,000 over the course of four years) / am accepted into their Honors Program. Super excited

Congratulations! Best of luck to your other schools!

I think your SAT score is suspect, to be honest.

@mom2engkids What do you mean by suspect? As in it was a fluke / seems unexpected, or something else?

If you are close to perfect on one, why are you not close on the other? Just seems strange, I will be interested to hear the June results.

Doesn’t seem strange at all. My brother has a 2010 on SAT but 36 on ACT. The tests are different.

@mom2engkids I did improve from 2060 to 2140 in the end with the June SAT, although that’s still a gap between SAT and ACT scores.

@MasterLillyclaw Still a very good score…f you are able to take the new SAT, and if it matters, it might close the gap since the two tests are more closely aligned now. The 2140 converts to a 32.

@inshm2016 Honestly, it probably doesn’t matter but its not the norm to have a near-perfect score on one and not the other from those I have talked to about it. If you look at the comparison tables between the two test, a 35 is equal to a 2340 and up…a 36 is equal to a 2400. Your original 2060 is equal to a 30 which is a rather large gap. Of course, I realize all things aren’t equal, and the ACT had the rep as the easier test, but that’s why I mentioned taking the new SAT if it matters.

I know two kids who got perfect scores on PSAT, SAT, and ACT. It would have driven them crazy to not have the perfect score on the other one, they said. Of course, these are totally OCD individuals too so there’s that. Thankfully, I am not related to them but they both said the tests were pretty easy at that level. I, however, am not at that level, so please take my opinions with a grain of salt.

@mom2engkids I think even if I could take the new SAT (which I don’t think seniors can take any SAT anyways at this point?) I probably wouldn’t with so much on my plate already, particularly because its redesigned so I wouldn’t know it as well.

New update: SCU: accepted! Won’t find out about financial aid for about a week though, and I know I didn’t get their top scholarship, which means that I probably won’t be going there (too expensive without their merit aid).

Last update (for schools):
UC Berkeley: accepted! No scholarships, tho, but still cool to have it as an option

I got $25,600 per year from a Dean’s scholarship and a grant at SCU, but it’s still more expensive than other colleges, so I’m not going there.

@MasterLillyclaw - congrats as it sounds like you have some great options! Just wanted to add that my son HS14, got a 35 on the ACT and a much lower SAT score (similar to OP but I don’t remember exactly) so the scores don’t always align per the concordance tables.

I officially accepted UCB’s admission decision! It feels so unreal @.@
