I’m so confused. We use a 4.0 grading scale however if you get an A+ it gets counted as 4.33, instead of a 4.0 if you just get an A.
I thought the highest unweighted GPA is 4.0 but theoretically you can get a 4.33 unweighted if you get an A+ in every single class.
I’m pretty sure large colleges don’t have time to calculate everyone’s GPA, which is a good thing. I have a couple B’s which would never have given me a 4.0 unweighted GPA but the A+'s balanced it out.
Would colleges just take away all those A+'s and count it as 4.0 and I won’t even have a 4.0 GPA?
I heard that some colleges just look at what the GPA is on the high school transcript. Is this true?
Colleges will recalculate your GPA based on their criteria. UC’s for example will not take - or +'s when you self report, so an A+ is an A. Each HS has their own weighting system, so just report what you have on your transcript, the colleges will figure out the rest.
My son’s had 6 GPA’s on their transcript, so which GPA do you suggest the colleges take??
They had Cummulative unweighted/weighted, Academic 9-12 unweighted/weighted and Academic 10-12 unweighted/weighted. You self report your grades on the application and they will figure out your GPA. I am from California, so the Cal States and UC’s have a specific formula they use to calculate GPA. Also many of the weighted classes at their HS were not UC approved, so they did not contribute to their weighted GPA but they did for their HS transcript GPA.
