4.5 GPA scale

Can anyone tell me how PSU converts a 3.9 weighted GPA to a 4.0 scale? On the counselor form I am looking good for UP with a 3.9 and a 2000 SAT and then I realized my GPA is on a 4.5 scale.

If PSU converts my GPA to a 3.45 will that be enough to get me into Up without going to a summer session? I have had all honors classes and 1 AP. I would have had a much better GPA without those honors classes. Will the 2000 SAT and tons of ECs help me?

Your SAT is really good. You should have no problem. If you like, just make a proportion and estimate your gpa on a 4.0 scale. 3.9/4.5 = x/4.0. So basically it's about 3.47 which should be alright considering your SAT score and summer.

Thanks lil killer...but what does that mean considering your SAT score and summer...I did put down I would go to summer session but if it comes to that I won't go to PSU. Does it just help that you say you will go to summer? I don't want to spend my last summer in school I want to spend it with my friends one last time!

It helps your chances if you put down you want summer. But it only helps your chances to get in UP, not so much for fall.

what is the reasoning behind a summer session anyway? I dont want to go to summer school I want to go to college what other college does a summer session?

Almost every college has summer sessions, although most students only go in the fall and spring. If you put down summer session on your application and are admitted, they will probably expect you to start in the summer. If there's no way you will start in the summer, you should contact admissions and change that on your application to start in the fall semester.

I only said I was "willing" to go in the summer not that I was applying to go. I am applying to go to UP but checked the box that I was willing to go in the summer. I get that schools have summer sessions but not that it is part of the admission process.

^It's for people who are hard-core PSU fans or whatever you want to call it that really want to get into UP and don't mind which way they get in. Indicating summer session will not help your chances for Fall admission; it will help your chances to getting into the school. If you really don't want to go to summer session, I'd suggest you call them up and tell them to change it.
