4 AP's Student with an F in Pre-Calc

Hello, I am a junior at one of the best schools in my city (LA). Even so, our school's math department is remedial and has a very low percentage of students who pass. This is how my grades look like:

AP Spanish Lang - A
AP English Lang - B
AP Human Geography - A
AP US History - A
Reg. Chemistry - A
Pre-Calculus - F (41%)
Water Polo - A

Does the F in math look bad?? I mean, I was born in Mexico (DREAMER), play water polo in school, live in "poverty", first generation student, 120 community service hours + an internship, immigrant rights activist. I even got a 5 in the AP world exam when I was in 10th grade and my freshmen and sophomore gpa's are really high.

Will this F basically impede me from going to a four year? My dream schools are: CSU Long Beach, Northridge and UC Santa Cruz. What can I do to avoid any further complications?

BTW I am certainly going to fail like 100% sure :(

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Well it’s not going to destroy your chances, but it isn’t exactly going to make them better. If one F stopped a student from making it in the world, a lot more young adults would be looking for jobs at local fast food chains…

Why are you “100% sure” that failure is inevitable? Have you gotten a tutor? Spent hours studying? Asked a teacher for help? I wouldn’t be so fast to quit, even if math isn’t your thing, which it clearly isn’t. Try to get your head wrapped around whatever it is that’s causing you to fail.

Thanks for the advice but I AM getting help outside of class. I have only been to Water polo practice about 2 days a week in the past 2 months because of all the after school tutoring I have been receiving. My teacher is really arrogant and hates you if you are not a math prodigy. Failure is inevitable. I just don;t see my self passing this class. What will happen after I fail?

stop riding the race card and just go to khanacademy if you don’t understand something or ask for extra help
