4 year-4 year over BA/MD programs???

I'm thinking about choosing TUFTS over the BA/MD programs because I don't think that they have as many great advantages as a traditional 4 year 4 year. I think in the US taking a 6 year is no different from a traditional 4 year course, unless if you are going to be in the caribbean or in India for med school. I really am motivated to pursue a career in medicine after my internship with a liver transplant surgeon at NYP-Columbia Presbyterian and he told me that these programs are good, but not excellent compared to the regular four year four year track. He told me it also doesn't allow to burgeon and you do have to follow a set track for some of them. Skipping the MCAT is any different but the only major advantage is that you can forget about doing the whole application proccess over again. Here are my stats and thanks to anyone who responds.

i would think u could get in to tufts with those stats......i think u should consider progs tho--and if u don't want to lose the "college experience" (do you have any idea of what kind of college experience awaits a premed???). and if u don't want to cut back on college years, there are 8 year programs as well...ur research stats are pretty darn strong..the only thing i don't see is leadership in clubs....did u do well in forensics, cuz i knowwww that boosts ur chances like anything. haha and u played the tabla for 3 years hollaaaa. ur emt thing is a pretty great thing as well and is something that i will be doing, although i can't put it on the application cuz i'll be certified after apps go out.......shucks...

I just started in junior year, but did pretty well, but I didn't win any state or national competition yet:(. If you think I have a chance, which programs do I have a chance at?

i know this is adressed to papucutta, but i think he would agree with me that you need to post your stats such as current GPA and what you do, in order for him to give you a good picture of programs that suit your needs.

well, my gpa is sorta low for my standard, my freshmen year sucked, but my school is extremely competitive, 3.6/4.0 and a 3.95/4.5

weighted *

Right now im taking
AP Biology
AP Physics
AP Economics
AP Calculus BC
Political Science *H
and regular english

tufts has a special program where if you truly excel in first couple of years you get guaranteed admission into tufts med school after ur four years but u can still apply to other med schools - that seems like a great program yet still risky

and btw how can i become a certified emt? im a junior right now

are there any other ecs i can have that can show interest in medicine besides just volunteering

research is a big plus

Just to let you know, I got into TUFTS and I'm looking forward to making this program into 7 years with enough AP credits and maybe a summer session, if i get into the program sophomore year.

cool.. did u apply to any BA/MD programs?

I applied to a lot, but I had to withdraw from them because I applied to Tufts E/D. I had a good chance of getting a few programs according to the admissions officers, but I had to withdraw, I found that Tufts will give me more options as well as help me out in my education better than some other universities
