40 point gain or bust. Any stories on sudden point jump on sat third time?

Hey!

I'm taking the SAT for a final time on Jan 22.

I currently have a 1360 (blah) and am just curious if there are any success stories for breaking 1400 on the third try.

I took a practice SAT recently (it was formal, not just out of the 10 reals book) and I'm hoping to find out the scores later this week so I can gauge my potential on the actual test.

In the meantime, if anyone out there has some type of experience with a substantial bolster the third try (40ish points or higher) it'd be cool if you could let me know.

thanks kids :P

plus, i've studied considerably. took princeton review and brush up, etc.

1st: 1510
2nd: 1510
3rd: 1570

So, a 60 point increase. The 2nd and third try were only one month apart and the only difference was my level of stress. I freaked myself out on the 2nd one and realized that I already had a good score and was just hoping for a few more points the 3rd time.

yea, the two times i took the sat i got 1350 then 1360 (they were one month apart like yours). Did you do anything extra the last time you took it or did you just not stress out?

I increased my verbal from 700 to 800 w/out studying. I think it was the 6 month time span that did it for me. Just don't stress out, and you'll do well. You already have a good score.

Just to give you hope, within a month, I went from 1350 to 1410, mostly due to being more careful on the math. My score jumped in math from a 730 to 780. Good luck.

1320 to 1460

Very possible.

1300 to 1400 no studying, just give it a try

thanks kid - hopefully all this not-studying will pay off

1380
1340
1540

No studying. Got lucky on verbal (knew all the vocab words) and basicly didn't stress out.

well, I'll see how things go come jan 22

use testmasters list. i hope its right.

1360 to 1540

what's testmaster's list???

patrick - did you do anything special? or nothing at all?

I know a kid who went 1420/1400/1540. It happens.

1230/1390/1360/1450 although I took it 4 times, there was a 220 pt increase.

Tell us if the improvement was just from taking the test again or did you prep.

I didn't really prep any. I took the tests about 10 months apart, which probably had the biggest effect. I was perfectly relaxed both times, although I probably concentrated a little better the second time. Other than that, I didn't do a whole lot of prepping. I did a test from the 10 Read SATs book the night before, but that's about it. Oh, and I didn't eat any breakfast or get much sleep. About six hours or so.

the only prep I did was to memorize SAT words. The first time I took it, I didn't do any prep at all. The second time, my score went up because I memorized words. third time, I went to sleep at 3 the night before because of taking practice tests. let me tell ya, that is the worst idea ever. my score went down 30 pts. make sure you get a good nights sleep. that's why I got a 1450 the 4th time, althogh it's still not that great.

i went from 1230/1300/1380. i did absolutely no preping in between my last two SAT's (it was summer time :) ). good luck!
