So, I received my form back with two papers attached in front of it and they told me I have to put my SSN assigned to a tax return even though I have no job, nor I receive any money, so I could not have done a tax return. I also said I had no employment and put that in the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE forms. I was told to just check box number seven on the VoNF form that I filled out for UNC, and I did that, along with stating information for number three and also applying my signature and the date which I fill out the form on.
I just emailed financial aid office at UNC and I am waiting for a response back about this. I am writing this because I am worried; that is all.
They cannot verify that you did not file a tax return unless you give them a SSN to check. I assume you do have a SSN? If so, then you will have to return the forms as requested. UNC will most likely tell you that you have to submit the form that you get AFTER you return the papers to the IRS.
Are you a U.S. citizen? If so, you are required to have a SS number. This must be included on your parent IRS tax return if you are listed as a dependent.
If you are an international student…please tell us that here.
@thumper1@kelsmom Yes, I am a U.S. citizen and I wrote this post before I figured out everything. Thank you though. UNC shot me back an email with what I needed to do, so did the IRS papers guide me on this.
