45units/year

hi i’m a first year in davis, and i was wondering:

do we have to finish 45 units during my freshman year? if so, what happens if i don’t?

thank u

UC DAVIS SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS (SAP)
AND FINANCIAL AID :

UNITS: 12 or More Per Quarter and 39 Per Year (6 Units per quarter if in Part-Time Degree Program)

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA): 2.0 Per Quarter and 2.0 UC Cumulative

Ok…this might be a stupid question but… how many units is each class? like when you say 12 or more units per quarter, how do you go about doing that? I’ve researched Davis and colleges and stuff, i just havn’t gotten into the technical stuff yet

Most courses are 4 units each… some with labs can be 5 units… and there are a few with only 3 units.

You should be taking 15 units a quarter if you want to graduate in 4 years… for most Majors… other majors may have to average 16 or 17 units. You have to look at your Major’s requirements.

Ok, yea I think i get that, thanks  When i went to the Davis tour i heard that current students will help incoming freshman fill out their course schedule on orientation. is that true?

Haven’t heard that… but cool if they will.

What’s your major? You can find all that on the David web site.

Yes, that is true bookworm. The student advisors there are extremely helpful and friendly. They will hand out a Fall courses list, a general catalog, and get your picture taken for your ID card at Orientation. They will answer any questions that you have. Just make sure that you have some backup courses before you register for class because you are mostly likely to not get the classes that you want since incoming freshmen register last.
