Do I have a chance of FSU with 1200/1690 3.6weighted gpa? Or should I apply to FAU or UCF now?

In addition to the applicant's overall composite on the ACT or total score on the SAT, FSU has minimum subscores for each exam:

* Writing · 21 on the ACT English or 500 on the SAT critical reading;
* Math · 21 on the ACT math or 500 on the SAT math; and
* Reading · 22 on the ACT reading or 500 on the SAT critical reading.

Having these minimum subscores does not guarantee admission. Most students admitted to FSU have higher subscores.

You better apply at other universities unless you can bring up your writing score.

If you are a senior HURRY. FAU has already announced they will be going to a waitlist this year, and the bar there is now much higher. Trickle down effect. And UCF gets harder to get an acceptance the later in the year you apply. So hurry before it is too late.

Florida Atlantic University has an enrollment wait list for the first time in its history as a crush of freshman applications floods its admissions office.

About 11,360 hopeful high school seniors are competing for one of 2,500 open freshman seats at the Boca Raton school.

Students who applied in the early fall were considered for admissions if they had 2.6 GPA's and 1450 on the SAT, which now tops out at 2400 points when including the reading, writing and math sections.

But as seats filled up, Pletcher said students currently need a 3.5 GPA and 1600 SAT score for admission.

You have no chance at FSU with a writing of 490 as the minimum is 500. And the post about your getting an F in calculus is worrisome because they rescind acceptances for senior grades of D or F on final transcripts. Senior grades have to be C or above.

Writing · 21 on the ACT English or 500 on the SAT critical reading;

Math · 21 on the ACT math or 500 on the SAT math; and

Additionally, I know someone who got in with a a sub-500 on the writing. Not guaranteeing you anything, but I wouldn't call you an automatic reject.

Good luck!

Actually, I looked at the stats, 14% have a writing score between 500-400?
Anyway, should I still retake the SAT?

Im very scared

The writing score WAS NOT CONSIDERED until recently--this admission cycle for admission 2009, class of 2013.. Any prior stats listing writing scores for accepted students are from BEFORE the minimum requirement was set at 500. There is a TYPO above. The minimum writing score is indeed 500 ON THE WRITING SECTION not the CR. The writing scores this year that are under 500 will be athletes and those accepted via audition for the schools of music, dance etc. If you don't have a "hook" you need a 500. Call and ask admissions. It is too late to retake.

I wish you luck and hope that you have a hook--maybe it is your chess.

hypothetically: if i get rejected from FSU, retake the sat in June w/prep-class score over 500 on writing, take a gap year. Can I reapply to FSU? this time with a 3.3/3.8 and 1200+/1700+

Also, I called admissions in Feb, the guy said, "you have a lot going for you", then today, I mentioned my sub-500 score in writing and a different officer told me that there are a lot of applicants already qualified??

that stinks. :( i was deferred when i had a 440 in reading... but it doesnt say anything about writing.. so i guess it doesn't matter? good luck
