I'm going to be a junior next year. I took APUSH this year and I'm planning to take the following next year...
-AP Stat
-AP Bio
-AP Language and Comp
-AP Chem
-AP Human Geography

Is this a bad idea? Teachers at my school are saying that this is going to drive me insane... Could you let me know if this is reasonable? I want to get into a top-tier college.
Also please let me know which of these classes are hard and which ones are worth taking! Thanks in advance!

ap human geo and ap stat are a joke
ap lang and comp is stupid, just a bunch of reading
ap chem and ap bio will be hard, but bio is a big workload and chem is very conceptual.
ull be fine

AP Lang is a pretty normal class for a Junior, sure it’s rigorous, but it’s normal for the average Junior AP Student. AP Bio and Chem sounds like a death-wish, but I HATE Biology with a passion and will not be taking that class…(I’m a Sophomore, and we take it Senior year at my school). Chem, I heard, is just a lot of busy work essentially, and the exam is extremely hard, but if you’re interested in it go for it. AP Stat is the lazy-man’s Calc BC, but I’ve heard that it’s actually quite a hard class. I know a lot of people who took Human Geography as freshmen (not offered at my school), and it was an easy class just as long as you know trends for the exam…like most of the history exams.

I know plenty of people at my HS that took 5-6 APs in one year (arguably with APs that were more difficult and time consuming than OP’s). Most of the people who go as far as taking this many APs tend to be the top of the top students, and get 4.0s anyway.

I am a junior this year taking 5 AP classes (including stat, chem, and lang). AP Bio and AP Chem are both tough classes that require a lot of work, but if you are good in the sciences you shouldn’t have too much of a problem. I would say you’ll be fine, but it really depends on how hard you are willing to work.

It’s going to depend on your individual teachers and the average workload at your school. At my school, kids expecting to go to any halfway decent college are in all or almost all AP’s starting sophomore year (we have 8 classes a year). Teachers adjust the workload accordingly. It’s likely to be that way at any school, with teachers adjusting their expectations to the workload of the average high-achieving student (never mind that that’s an oxymoron). It’s up to you to figure out what you can and can’t handle.

AP Statistics and AP Human Geography are so terribly easy. They are not equivalent to be called an AP in regards with AP Calculus, AP US History, etc. You basically have the equivalent of 3 1/2 APs.

AP Biology
AP Environmental Science
AP World History
AP Calculus AB
AP Statistics

Would this be too much? Should I even take APES? I heard that it goes well with AP Biology but others say that it’s not even worth taking because it’s so easy. I am interested in science though. So which ones should I take?

to the OP, AP Human Geography was super easy.

i know a few people who are taking seven AP classes right now.
AP human geography is extremely easy, probably the easiest AP class you can take, close to psychology.

it really depends on the teacher you have though. an AP class could be either extremely difficult or easy depending on the teacher you have, how much work they give, etc… it’s probably not a good idea to ask people on here because everyones “AP experience” at their highschools vary, you are better off asking people at your school if those classes are hard, and plan accordingly

I think it really depends on the school you go to. I’ll be taking 4 AP classes next year as a junior, but the AP classes at my school are really easy. Like, there are people making 99’s and 100’s in APUSH. So, it really depends on your school.
I’m taking
AP Statistics
AP US History
AP English 11 (Lang. Comp)
AP Psychology

I’m not really expecting anything really tough either. More work than normal, yeah, but not something excruciating.

Don’t do it. Do not double up on the sciences. AP Bio is easy, but it is so much work! Several hours of note taking a night, especially towards the end! At least an hour in Chem problem sets too…

AP Stats I hear is easy but again a big workload. AP Hug is what it sounds like, but it would suck to do just that itty bit of work when you’re really wanting to go to sleep. If you take AP Bio out, you should be able to manage (it won’t be fun though). If you really want to you just self study Bio at your own pace instead of taking a class and dying because of it.

Finally don’t underestimate AP Lang. If you’re teacher is killer, you’ll have a lot of work to do. Take it from someone who also took a **** ton of ap’s junior year and messed up, it is not something to play around with, because for a lot of colleges the grades you get in junior year are the last they see. It’s unfortunate, but colleges prefer to see A’s rather than Herculean rigor.

ap calc bc, ap phys, ap chem, ap compsci, ap econ, ap lang here and its not that bad, counter-intuitively i’m doing better this year compared to when i had honors classes lol most of them are a joke, like calc phys chem compsci and lang but for econ i have to read most of the times to do well.

go ahead and take all those classes, don’t listen to people because they’ll never be able to accomplish what you will since they don’t know what it takes to go to the top schools or they have experienced so.
you should be perfectly fine, and good luck man!

I’m set to take 10 next year, so I definitely can’t say that you’re crazy. I’ve taken all of the ones you’ve taken so here’s my opinions:

-AP Stat - Joke unless you’re bad at math. But if you were bad at math, you probably wouldn’t be taking this…
-AP Bio - I thought it was hard because I hate Biology and it’s hard to really get into a class that you hate. But most people I know thought it was medium.
-AP Language and Comp - It was only hard for me because I had a teacher that was a monster. We literally had essays due after one day night after night. Everyone who got other teachers thought it was a joke though.
-AP Chem - Easy for me because I absolutely love chemistry, but it was hard for some people that didn’t like Chemistry much.
-AP Human Geography - Absolute joke of an AP course. At my school, it’s a freshman course that pretty much everyone (including some really dumb people) take and get 4’s and 5’s on the exam.

Guys, I don’t think this guy/gal will really care how many/what classes you’re taking (or took) unless you can offer some personal advice instead of showing off your ‘academic prowess’ because if he/she is concerned about taking those classes while you aren’t, you obviously cannot relate to his/her situation.

From personal experience and from what others say, AP Statistics and Human Geography are a cinch.

As for AP Chem, some say it’s easy while others argue it’s one of the hardest AP courses available - this will all depend on whether or not you are good at the sciences in general and applied mathematics (because that’s pretty much what it is). AP Biology is for sure one of the hardest classes - not because it’s difficult to understand, but because the workload is so extreme. This is one of the classes in your list that you should re-consider. As for both, a lot of memorization will be involved (especially AP Chemistry).

AP Language and Composition is easy for some and for others, not as much. I’m not that great at English, so I personally find it difficult. If you’ve ever seen the AP Language and Comp. multiple choice questions, you’ll just see what level difficulty we’re talking about here. But then again, if you’re one of those language-types then you’ll definitely be ok.

All in all, since the difficulty in the class (now I’m not talking about the AP exams here; those are different) really depends on who you have as a teacher and, honestly, how much they like you, go around asking others for advice who’ve already had those classes.

I plan on taking:
-AP Calculus AB
-AP English Language and Composition
-AP Physics
-AP Spanish Language
-AP Us history
-Principles of Engineering Design
Would it be possible to do these classes with school sports everyday? I do x-country, basketball, and track. I know already that these classes are a lot of work I was just wondering if other people would think if this is possible. (Oh yeah and I am going to be a Junior next year.)

It’s all really subjective to YOUR school, in my opinion.

I mean, at my school AP Stats is harder that AP Calc because the teacher is basically incompetent and assigns homework like crazy and you pretty much have to self teach yourself, AP Biology is only for completely crazy kids who like being miserable all year long, AP Chem is amazing, and AP Language is ridiculously easy, yet almost everybody passes.
