5 APs too much?

Is taking 5 APs too much? Is it going to be unmanageable?

I'm taking AP Bio, AP US, AP English (language), AP Calc BC, and AP Macro(half year course). I'm also taking Spanish 4 Honors.

Do you think this will be too much work and that it's going to be impossible to manage?
(APUSH and AP Bio aren't too demanding and aren't that hard in my school)

I don’t think that taking 5 AP’s or all honors classes is to much if you can handle it. The question you need to ask yourself is am I prepared to get a good AP score on these test? Colleges will be impressed with AP courses, but more impressed with qualifying credit scores and a good balance.

Only you an really answer that question. This year I am a sophomore and I have 4 APs. (envrionmental, psych, humangeo, European–usualy considered easy ones though XD) and I am managing pretty well. Next year I plan to take 5 or 6 APs, I don’t know if its deemed manageable or not but I’m going to make it manageable regardless.

Ask yourself this:

 1. What are my Extracurriculars? Are they time consuming? Extremely demanding?
 2. Do I need a social like and just “me time”?
 3. Do I need sleep? (I average 5 hours a night)? Some people do really need the 8-10 hours
 4. Have I taken any AP classes before? Do I think that I can handle it? If the answer is yes, then yes YOU CAN!
 5. Am I good at these subjects? Do these classes actually interest me?

Good luck :)

while im dedicated to extracurriculars, they aren’t that time consuming

yes I need a social life, but I’m fine with only hanging out with friends Friday and Saturday night and reserving all other time to school.

while I love sleep, I can manage on very little sleep (usually average 4 hours)

never taken APs before because my school doesn’t offer any until junior year

I like biology, history is just history so that’s fine, I like math, I’m good at English and like reading and writing, and i have an interest in economics. I hate Spanish, but that’s required and not an AP.

hopefully ill be able to manage it, but this has definitely made me more confident. thanks!

This depends on the school you want to go to. But if you can take 5 AP courses, and maintain a unweighted GPA of a 3.75+, you’re looking solid.

I am taking 5 APs this year and I think it is manageable APUSH is pretty easy especially if you enjoy history and i haven’t taken AP Bio but from what i hear it is a lot of memorization and reading so if you think you can handle that you should be fine AP English Lang can be tricky at the beginning because it is a new way of writing but once you get in the swing of it you should be fine and my school makes me take AP Calc AB before BC but calculus is calculus and if you are good at math you should be fine if your ECs aren’t too demanding (cuz those are important too) than it sounds to me like you will be fine
