5 more days to decide and I'm still lost ! Please Help !

Well As an international student i have to make to decision in 5 Days so that the enrollement files arrive on time!
I intend to major in Computer Science/Computer engineering (Don’t know which one yet) and I can’t decide which university i should go to yet.
I’ve been admitted to several Universities but my top 3 choices for now are NYU, Northeaster and U-dub Seattle.
Each one of these schools has its pros and cons and i really need someone to guide me:

1.NYU: I've been granted admission to Poly and they told me that i'd need one year so i could transfer to CAS yet NYC is great an full of opportunities espeacially post graduation

2.Northeastern: Great school/Great internships and academacis but i don't really like the Campus

3.U-Dub Seattle: Great school/great academecis/great campus but i wasn't granted direct admission to CSE so it'll be a great risk to go there

Also I intened to pursue a double major later on (Business Major) So stern/poly and CSE UW/Foster UW seem to be the best combinations

Why don’t you like Northeastern’s campus?

tbh, I only saw it on virtual tours but i didn’t like it a lot ! ( Campus is not a very important factor for me, I primarly care about academics and social life)

  1. NYU POly is great for CSE and science in general.
  2. You can't combine Stern with something else unless you were admitted to Stern (as a freshman), so forget this combination. It's also almost impossible to major in engineering and double major in business or something else, unless you're offered a spot in a special Stem-mba program.
  3. What major were you admitted to at UWashington?
  4. How much does each college cost if you subtract only scholarships&grants? What's your parents' budget?

@MYOS1634 Do you think that I won’t regret going to poly ? Is it as good as Northeastern and UW (i Got pre-engineering in UW, I’ll have to take the regular admission process, some people say that I’m good enough to get admission but I’m not sure and i do not want to major in something that i don’t like later on)

I think UDub is too big of a risk. Why would you regret Poly?

@PurpleTitan I am afraid that i’d regret Poly because:

  1. It not ranked as good as the other universites that granted me admission
  2. It is more expensive that the other schools and I don’t know if it is worth it!
  3. I wouldn’t be able to pursue the double major that I’d like to have
  4. It’s far way from the main NYU campus and i care for social life enev though I’ve talked to current Poly students and they told me that it’s not that much of an issue

I’ve been granted admission to syracuse and BU as well but I honestly think that the three I’ve already listed are better in terms of academecs and internship/Post-graduation opportunities

So what are the costs for each? BTW, the rankings are far from exact. Most people would put all of BU, NEU, NYU-Poly on the same tier for CS. If anything, NEU below (they really game rankings). UDub is highly ranked for CS, but you don’t have an admit there.

Between NYU Poly and Northeastern, I’d pick the cheapest for you.

@PurpleTitan and @MYOS1634 NYU and NEU are about the same cost, UW is about 20k cheaper

I also don’t know where you get the idea that NEU is better than BU. Most people would not say that.

BU is overpriced (over 70K for this Fall) for what it offers in my opinion. Some programs are definitely stronger than NEU’s, but not all, and certainly not by that much in costs.
In terms of quality, they’re neck and neck (even if I agree that NEU gamed the rankings, its ratio of students with 32+ ACT or top 10% in class is impressive), but NEU has a nice campus and the co-op, which is very valuable for STEM majors.

OP: wrt to UWa, look at this:
http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=764
Are you likely in the top 10% of the students? Or in the top 30%? This would make a difference wrt your likelihood of successful entry into your chosen major.

Is money an issue? Even with generous scholarships these schools can mean big loans! If $100,000+ was easy to pay off, people wouldn’t have 15-30 year mortgages. They all sound like solid options so make a smart financial decision:) just my opinion.

U Dub apparently has great internship pops for CS majors…I’d roll the dice and go there. The others aren’t really ranked for CS.

Word of advice: It’s UW, not u-dub! You may pronounce it that way, but please don’t write it that way because it makes you sound like a poser…

Is UW $20K cheaper per year? As in $80K overall? If that is the case, then I would choose UW. How will you finance the difference at NYU Poly or Northeastern?

UW CSE is competitive to get into, but they also have quite a lot of courses that you can take as a non-major in the case that you aren’t admitted to the major. However, the majority of CSE students are admitted in their sophomore or junior year anyway.

If you’re in NYU Poly, and you want to major in computer science or computer engineering, why would you want to transfer to CAS anyway?

Yep It’s cheaper 20k per year. I’d like to transfer to CAS because the CS major there is pretty known and better ranked
Otherwise, money isn’t really a problem. I have a sponsor that’ll pay the first two years of my studies no mateer the cost

If UW is 20k cheaper per year, go with UW and do your utmost
NYU CAS for CS isn’t worth 80K more!!!
(NYU Poly isn’t either, but at least it makes sense for CS and stem fields).
And please be respectful of your sponsor’s investment in you, don’t consider that it’s a gift so you can spend it in any way you want.
If you went to NYU, what would you do your last two years?
What about Northeastern?
In my opinion, UWa becomes the no-brainer choice here, with NEU still in contention, but barely, and NYU should be off the table at this point.

@MYOS1634 But what if I don’t get the CSE major ? I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else ! And i won’t settle for any other major that isn’t as good for me (such as informatics etc …)
