when i went to Cornell for a visit
I visited CAS admission office for an info session.
After the info session, I hung out in the lobby and
talked/asked about Arts and Science admission with
the front desk people. It was a lot of fun and very informative.
They gave me the Cornell fact sheet and told me that
last year, CAS accepted about 350 out of 700 ED applicants!

50% acceptance rate for CAS ED!
Is that true?

cuz I applied ED to CAS and I really like that odd...

but wasn't that rate for both ED and RD combined???

i think 50 percent might be true though............................
cuz like other colleges are more competitive to get into like architecture and hotel....... so when it averages all out, it comes out to like 40 percent? no?

i guess i'm hoping that 50%rate is true. cuz i applied to CAS ED lol

lol. okay..I was just being pessimistic. I love being pessimistic cos it's 7 days__hours.._mins..etc. until decisions. I'm getting into my official pessimistic mood so that I wouldn't be disappointed no matter what comes up on my screen. Goddang it, i wanna get in too...50% (that would be awesome)!!! haha. I applied ED to CAS btw...

You are already pessismistic? Wow. I am still in the stage where like every other hour I cant decide if I am def in or def reject. I'm like "Omg, there is no way I am not in," then "Omg, what was the point of applying?" that is where i am

an international student to be more accurate.
although i live in the u.s. i'm not a citizen or a perm. resident so...
being asian + being an international student = seriously crappy chance....

if we both get in maybe we can join a korean club or sth lol

haha, i'm considered international too... but i also live in the US in California but then i'm not a citizen or a perm. resident... lol...

does that really give me a crappy chance?
i mean i think that the adcoms will look more on the competition between the students who apply there from a SAME high school rather than just making all Koreans or internationals competing with each other.....

that is just way too harsh if they did that lol ;)

I kind of figured 50% since my USNews subscription lists the ED rate as 42%, but when I went to the admissions meeting, 10-20% are considered "unadmissable" which I'm assuming means really low GPA's and really low SATs. Since I know for sure I'm not "unadmissable" I gave myself a 50% admission rate. However, if CAS has an even higher ED rate, I'd increase my chances to 60%...I didn't actually do the math on that, with the numbers, but I figure that's decently close.

well admission officer i talked to said that even intl. students will be judged in comparison with applicants from his/her area, but even if an intl. student is accpeted, depending on the financial aid, s/he could be rejected if cornell is unable to meet the need.

i didn't know that international studetns can get REJECTED if they applied for FA.. wow..................................................... isn't it need-blind???

anyways, i did take the TOEFL but it said that i was exempt from it.......
but then i sent it anyway lol..................

i'll tell you the score when we chat lol.. :)
