So, in the fall I'll be taking the following courseload in addition to ECs

AP Language and Composition
AP European History
AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
AP French Language
AP Spanish Language/apex
PreCalc

How many hours of homework a night should I expect? My school does a block schedule, so I'll only have 4 classes a day. I really want to hear from people who've done this before. How did you get by?

Took it last year:
Chem
Bio
APUSH
Psych
Calc AB
Eng Lang

I had 8 classes total, block schedule. Got all 5's. I'm doing the same thing next year...even with EC's it's fine if you manage your time well (do homework in easy classes, etc). l usually got home at 6-7, so it's not like school was all I did..it was fine. Yeah, you'll have homework, and yeah, you'll probably pull a few all-nighters, but if you have the drive to take six APs in the first place it's probably something you can handle. Any more questions, just ask =)

Homework really depends upon how hard your teachers crack down. If you are committed to your studies, you should be fine. My courseload is the following:

AP US Government/Microeconomics
AP European History
AP Comparative Gov't/Senior Release
AP Spanish Lang
AP English Lit & Comp
AP Statistics
Debate
Choir

Also considering buying a book and taking the Macroeconomics test.

I'm taking 6 APs next year too (Psych, Spanish, Spanish Lit, Eng Lit, Calc BC, US Gov) AND Japanese 2, ASL 3/4, Band, and Gym (req). If I'm excited for it, I'm pretty sure you can do it.

Next year I've got 6 AP classes and 1 self study AP (Gov't, Lit, Italian, Calc AB, Chem, Bio, Physics (S.S.) )
I would imagine it's a lot of work just seeing what my summer assignments were for 5 of the 6 classes! My friends think this is a probable cause of suicide!

But then again, I'm not loaded down with a lot of EC's and usually get home at 3:30 or 4:00, at the latest 5:30 (and that's rare).
I know one girl who intended to take 6 but her guidance counselor wouldn't even let her because she was too involved in ec's.

Next year I have 3 serious university classes plus an AP at school plus I am in a highly competitive orchestra where I will have to practice 3 hours a day.

Thats not entirely true, at least not for me. Last year I took 5 APs and for some reason had a major senioritis breakdown at the end of first quarter, which completely screwed my GPA. I stopped doing hw, stopped studying, even stopped paying attention in class. Luckily, I was able to regain my motivation at the beginning of AP season. The moral of the story is: As long as you dont lose focus and mix up your priorities, you will do fine, no matter how many AP classes you take.

I took
AP Chem
AP Calc BC (+ multivariate)
AP Stats
AP Physics C Mechanics + E&M
AP US Gov
AP Comp Gov
the year before last.

It wasn't that homework-intensive. Actually, most of my teachers didn't give homework or care about deadlines, they just gave tests. Which can actually be harder, depending on how motivated you are to study for them. But how much homework you get depends a lot on your school and which teachers you get...and I guess since your classes are humanities classes you'd probably get a lot more writing. Also, since you have two language classes, a lot will depend on how naturally skilled you are with foreign languages...

No matter what, though, you'll want to devote most of April to studying for AP exams. Your classes will probably let you off on homework for that month so you can do that.
