Anyone live in here before? I got a double there for next fall (probably where they're putting most transfers). What are rooms like? The website didn't have floorplans for this building.

Hey Casey, did you hear about housing via email? Thanks

i just checked the housing application we submitted online. it listed assignments there, but im pretty sure we are all in the same place. i know of at least 1 other transfer assigned to 604 W114

It's odd. I called a long while back and was told that it would most likely be 600 W 113th and Wein for transfers.

600 W 113th is much much nicer than Wien. Although in Wien you're likely to get a single, whereas singles in Nussbaum (600 W 113th is right above the deli Nussbaum & Wu) are usually reserved by seniors. It's nice living though.

Is housing for transfers decided on a rolling basis? Because mines definitely not in yet...

denzera, ya know anything about the layout/floorplan of brownstones?

Casey, i think what you should be more concerned about is whether that brownstone is a frat house....from what i hear (and have seen), living in a frat house when you're not a member of the frat isn't particularly pleasant.

well it was the "inquiry house" last year for that residential program, so i doubt its a frat house. i wouldnt have a problem living in it even if it was, im in a fraternity myself (but not one that is at columbia).

i think its probably another special interest house this year, but the "transfer house" or something...in any case, id still like to know what the floorplans are like.

I don't have any information on the floorplans of brownstones, sorry. They were never part of the room selection network while I was there.

I was a transfer last year and lived in the old Zeta Psi house. I believe it was 531 west 113th. If you guys have any questions about the brownstones and stuff for transfers let me know - some other transfers were in wien or in doubles in random buildings, but I had a great experience in the brownstone. I knwo some other transfers didn't, though.

As a transfer, did you have a single in the Brownstones?

yea, had a single, as did alot of the transfers in the house. But it was a different situation then it will be this year because Zeta Psi had been kicked out so it was mostly transfers and then a geroup of about 7 friends who were going to live with zeta psi in the house. I did have a single, though, and it was about 155 sq. feet i'd say.

i know that in 604 W 114 there are transfers in doubles on both the 3rd and 4th floor...what was the building layout in your brownstone, clinton?

Most floors had one huge walk-through double room, 3 singles, and a bathroom. The singles were all very similar in size. On the top floor there were 2 singles, different in shape and maybe a little smaller, but they were all very big. Of course, the disadvantage is that there is no elevator. Otherwise, the shared bathrooms weren't too bad (except the shower size), and without a frat there, the ground floor went unfurnished. The advantage is that there is usually no R.A. and so you ca do whatever you want really.

walk-through double room, as in, in order to get to any of the singles/bathroom, you go through the double?...that sounds pretty bad. open bottom floor sounds cool though.

it means its just a big double, only the perosn at the far end has to walk through? it just means its basically two singles combined so the person at the far end has to pass through the first one to get through to those things...
