what you posters still don't understand is that AA helps disantvantaged students gain access to equal peers. yes, they may have lower SATs and other "stats" ccmembers put such an emphasis on, however, these URMs do equally as well as whites and asians IN those top colleges. they aren't babied at all, and their standing IN college keeps AA alive: AA helps the otherwise disadvantaged (be it locale, family situation, discrimination, et cetera) show the world their talent. even as a jewish boy who isn't UR, i support AA.

ARCHcornell, your point has weight, but how does it attack our anti-AA argument? Your intentions are pure, but don't you admit AA is still inherently racist? Why not just look at people based on their economic background, and not through the race goggles? Now THERES a way to fish out the truly underpriveleged people in the admissions process, something we'd all like to do, in a non-racist way.

"no. If you go straight 700's and get 2100 on the SAT, that's a solid score."

lol that makes me laugh...Solid...honestly only on this site. 700 is like top 5% in the entire friggin COUNTRY!!! Realistically an 1800 is solid for an average person.
