7 course-pattern vs 7 course breadth?

Are they the same thing? The 7 course-pattern can be used for transfer instead of IGETC, however, is that the same thing as the 7 course breadth general education requirements that schools like UCB use? Would completing the 7 course-pattern be the same as completing IGETC in that you wouldn’t need to do any additional general ed requirements upon transfer? Or would you still require additional GE classes (at schools like UCB, UCSB, UCSD*)?

  • I understand that IGETC doesn't cover all of the GE requirements for UCSD.

here are some links to what i’m referring to:

The UC overall has the minimum breadth but the breadth may be slightly different depending on college and major and campus. You need to look at the college (say college of engineering, Letters and Science) for their requirements, plus check your major in case try added something (like language, etc). Follow the breadth prescribed by your college at the UC you are interested in.

The overall UC breadth is just what will get your application looked at.
