Maybe they'll just send things by U.S. Mail...
If they didn't refer to the program in the e-mail (And they didn't for me either) I don't think it's a rejection - or an acceptance. GW Med probably handles that.

I called and was told all information about special programs will be sent to you with your mailed packet. So you'll have to wait just a few more days.

I am stressing out over this so badly. I haven't received ANYTHING. GW doesn't have my e-mail address so I will find out about everything via post. Everyday I sit in my classes and just phase out waiting for school to end then go home only be dissapointed to have nothing in the mail or only see small letters and get scared that I'll see a rejection letter.

I've been doing that too, for the past week or so lol. My friend received her admission packet for undergrad and she lives in the same city as I do... (I haven't received anything yet) so hopefully I'll get something tomorrow. I live in Michigan. Good luck.

Does anyone know about official #'s for this year? How many applied, how many interviewed and how many accepted?

uhh 700 applied, 60 interviewed, 30-35 accepted.

DAMN. I was selected as an ALTERNATE for the program. Does anyone know anything about basically being waitlisted for the med program at GW?

slx88-how'd you find out you were an alternate. I thought you said on another thread that there was nothing in your mail today? did you calll or something?

I e-mailed Ms. Walker and she told me I was selected as an alternate. Apparently "over 700 people applied this year for 20 spots."

Can anyone clarify what this means?
"That is why I wanted to inform you that you have been selected as an 'Alternate' for the BA/MD program. Should a student not be able to fulfill his/her duties in the Program, you will be notified."

How much of a chance does an alternate get of being accepted eventually and when?

I AM COMPLETELY DEVASTATED.

my friend just got accepted to this program! i am so happy for her. :)

lol I really want something in the mail!

Actually, never mind, I'm an alternate too. This sucks because notification of that can continue all through april and I need to notify other programs... darn.

An alternate means that if one of the students chosen for the program chooses another program/school over GW, a place may become available for you. You may need to accept another program and send a deposit which you may lose if GW finally offers you a space and you accept it.

if you accept another program and send a deposit in, isn't that a binding contract though? I mean, even if you want GW, you've still accepted another school's program; I don't think you can just go to another college. The deposit isn't a problem, I'm just curious about the legal issue of that.

Yeah, how would that work. Most of the med programs have contracts that you sign seperate from the undergrad deposits you make. Is there a "standard procedure?"

I haven't read the entire thread, but here's something to keep in mind. If you applied to the BA/MD program and didn't get in and you still want to come to GW, GW offers an early section program with the med school. Students in the Columbian College and School of Engineering can apply during their Sophomore year for a spot in the Med School. Details can be found at http://www.gwumc.edu/edu/admis/html/academics/index.html, click on "Early Section" under Special Programs.

"Regarding the alternate list for the BAMD program, there is no ranking system per say. Five people have been chosen as alternates. In your packet of materials, there will be a form that will need to be sent back to us indicating whether or not you would be interested in accepting the alternate spot. Like I mentioned before, if a student does not accepted the BAMD position and we still need to fill slots, we will take students from the alternate list only if they have selected to remain an alternate. Out of the 5 that were selected to remain on the alternate for last year, only 3 accepted their position to stay on the list, they in turn were all accepted into the Program b/c of three empty spots from the BAMD list. Had all 5 returned their forms, we would have selected on a first come first serve basis. "

Just some more information if anyone else is an alternate.

has anyone here been accepted into the program? if so, do you know where the ba/md students live? i remember at my interview people the tour guides mentioned that ba/md students live in special dorms/ floors but i forgot the actual name. any help would be appreciated! thanks!

I believe it's Lafayette Hall.

Hi everyone! This is actually my first post on this website! I got accepted into the GW 7-year program! I'm not sure whether I'm going to go there though. I am seriously deciding between that and Dartmouth. In my letter, they said that 15 people out of 700 are accepted, but I heard from a friend that only 12 people actually got in. I hope that helps!
