8 AP Classes Senior Year

Okay for the record this is not me taking 8 AP classes senior year
I have a friend who's #1 out of 391 in our class, and more likely will be our valedictorian, and he's seriously signed up for 8 AP's if (If anyone is able to do it, It would definitely be him) This guy makes 95 or above in every class he has taken since freshman year. I want to know what do you think about this?
For the most part he does have a social life. He's very involved in EC's NHS, Avid, Debate, etc...
He wants to major in political science (I think he's interested in the Ivies)

For anyone who's wondering these are the classes he signed up for.
AP English IV
AP Physics
AP Environmental Science
AP Biology
AP Government
AP Economics
AP Calc
AP Statistics
I want to know others opinions?

Honestly, most of the APs listed there aren’t as difficult. Although it depends on the school, Government, Economics, Stats, English, Environmental Science should be easy.

Which is why I think he decided to take those. It’s almost like taking an “easy” class, while taking the advantage of receiving the extra 10 points.

Well if those are the easy AP’s looks like I myself have to reconsider my senior schedule lol.

Personally knowing him, I also don’t think he’s taking the classes as an effort to further impress colleges, but also to maintain his #1 spot in our class.

Honestly if taking extra AP’s and doing well on them could move my class rank say about 25 people I would consider it as well.

Is your friend taking calc AB or calc BC? Also is he taking physics 1, 2, or C?
Gov, bio, environmental sci., and stats aren’t too rigorous in my opinion.

Well, next year he’s probably going to take eight real college classes. It’s probably not that much different, except that AP classes have more busywork.

Well at my schools, the maximum amount of AP classes one can take in a year is 5, but due to scheduling conflicts, 3 is the usual amount one can take a year. And since you’re not allowed to take AP’s besides World History until Junior Year, 6-7 is what the cream of the crop have.
Definitely a more rigorous schedule than anyone I know.

Looks quite easy, to be quite honest. People can just self-study for half of those courses and the other half doesn’t look that intimidating.

Now that I think about it you guys are right. I’m taking 5 Ap’s senior year along with being on the dance team, band and debate team, and being an NHS member. I think if you think you can handle it then go for it, my worry would be stretching yourself to thin.
