800 SAT Math and 800 Math2 Look good for engineering?

I have an 800 SAT Math and an 800 SAT2 MATH2C and I wanted to go into engineering (Penn, Duke mainly). Will this help me since engineering is math oriented? My Verbal is less than spectacular (690) and I dunno if i can get that higher. I'm afriad that im too much of a lopsided asian. Any thoughts?

My son finds himself in a similar position, although he is not interested in engineering. Has the same math scores as you, but is interested in math/chemistry/business. He posed the question of retaking the SAT for just a better reading score. Two English teachers told him not to worry about it. If a college does not want you at 680 for the reading, what's the say it will want you at 700? He decided that he will not retake the SAT.

Whatever you decide, best of luck.

690 isnt that horrible, and at those top schools they will be looking more at your ECs and class rank to see if you are good enough. Mind you, I got 800M and 610V and got into top schools, but I had a high rank and good ECs.

The lopsided Asian is more like 800M, 800 Physics, 800 Chem and then 560 Verbal.

If you can retake and improve it, it will be better. But after 2-3 tries and the scores are the same then it's ok. Try to focus on other areas of your application.
