im sorry im a noob, but i would very like to enter an undergraduate engineering college, preferably cornell. I have the math grades (even though this is my first year of calculus) and i have 800s on the sat I math and the sat II math level 2 subject test as well as a 760 in chem. My question is will a 660 score in critical reading affect my chances greatly or will admissions to engineering schools not care too much about that since its well, reading and not math or science?

Eh, not as much... but you can probably bump that 660 up to above a 700 if you study a bit. There are plenty of books and websites out there that indicate the most frequently asked types of critical reading questions, and that give hints on how to beat the test, and I'll bet if you looked into a couple of those and retook the tests, that you'd be able to bump it up.

Honestly, though, I don't think it's a huge deal. A 660's not horrendous, but if you're shooting for Ivy and want to eliminate any reason for them to not accept you, then it might be something to retake.

660 is okay but try making it 700. I know its only 40 points but it does make a difference. Still you do have a shot at Cornell especially if you apply ED.

do ivies ignore everything outside of 700's for SAT 1 and SAT 2's?

^no way check the stats. here are stanford's:
SAT Verbal 700-800* 86.3%
SAT Math 700-800* 73.5%

So while most are in the 700s not all of them are.
