I'm a rising junior.
I did one practice test yesterday from 2nd edition blue book, got 800 for both reading and math.
Today, I signed up college board on-line course, did one practice and got 690 for reading, 700 for math and 740 for writing.

It may be a large change, but scores will definitely fluctuate from testing to testing. I would just question whether the online test was in very test-like conditions.

TBH, online tests are annoying because I find reading long-passages from monitor a little more annoying to the eyes and you can’t write on the screen as you would on a test booklet… do more from blue book imo

again, scores fluctuate but not by 200 points. that’s completely absurd to claim. you don’t go from getting 0-2 wrong to getting 14-21 wrong (m /cr respectively) no matter how bad your luck may be.

I heard from my friends that January SAT usually easier than other months.
Assume the 800 I got was January version.
Then I really have to work more this summer (well, only three weeks left…)

WHY?! It’s a standardized test, no test is supposed to be easier! CB could be sued if they intentionally made tests easier. Obviously there are marginal differences in difficulty that CB would not have done purposely but to claim that Jan is easier is just ridiculously stupid. I think it was the fact that you did them online that made a difference. Print the online tests and take them as you would in on the real deal. (you can always recycle if you are an environmental freak).

I don’t think Jan. SAT is easier, but you might get higher score if you get the same # of correct answers and same # of incorrect answers becasue there will be fewer ‘good’ seniors taking this SAT, more younger kids taking this one

Well at max it’s a 560-800 difference. 240. At it’s lowest it’s 640-720. 80.

But the fact still stands that I went through this, no matter how much you say it can’t happen. I think I should note that on average I get around 650-750.

this is very wrong. it doesn’t matter who is taking the test

the only point i’m trying to make is that that is not the norm. there will always be deviations. also, i didn’t say it couldn’t happen-- of course it can-- all i’m saying is that at that point, you can’t blame it on the intricacies of the test.

BB Test 6 & 7: 46/49 Writing MC.
BB Test 8: 31/35 on the first section. The past two tests I missed 3 total. On this test, I’ve already missed 4, and that’s just on the first section. So yes, scores fluctuate. With BB tests, I’d say +/- 100 fluctuation is expected.

This is the exact opposite of what happens to me. For the last 5 or 6 tests I’ve taken (I can’t remember the exact number, but I know it is no less than 5) I’ve gotten the same number of questions wrong for CR. I cannot seem to get a higher or lower score no matter how easy or difficult the test seems, so right now I’m not really as actively taking tests.
