Is it true you get less than 12 for the essay and still get 800 for writing?
How the **** can it happen anyway?

its possible if the curve is good. It's happened before

With a perfect MC, you can afford around minimum of 10 to get an 800 with a good curve

I got perfect MC and a 10 essay to get an 800. I don't think a lower essay score would get it though

So when will the curve turn? I really don't get what you meant

Do you understand what a curve is?

Not all SAT tests are created equally. Some are harder than others. To compensate for this fact, collegeboard does not score each test equally. On a harder test, you are allowed to miss more questions and still receive a perfect score. On an easier test, you are allowed to miss less. That is what a curve is, an adjustment caused by the innate differences between separate tests.

I think its 9 essay is 800 possible. 80 on MC and 9 essay might be borderline 800

D got an 800 in W on the May SAT. She had a 9 on the essay and an 80 on the MC section.

Scoring varies. Ex: My son missed 1 math problem on the June 2006 SAT and made a 790; my daughter missed 1 math problem on the March 2008 SAT and made a 770.

An nearly every SAT you can get an 800 with a 9 essay (provided you get all MC right). Shows that even CB doesn't weigh the essay hugely. On some forms you can even get an 800 with an 8!!
