If you screwed up in 9th grade, but have had straight A's in AP and honors ever since, would IVY league universities recognize this and take some consideration to this fact?

What if the reason you did poorly in 9th grade was because of family issues or problems, if you explain this to IVY league universities will they take in any consideration?

And I also do not understand why people do that. I think they might be trying to emphasize it. ("I want to go to STANFORD.", "What are my chances at DUKE?")

HVSahin said that some ivy league universities do not even bother at looking at 9th grade. I was wondering if you know specifically which universities these are..

i hope this isn't too harsh, but for every person in harvard(or wherever)'s applicant pool who screwed up in 9th grade, there are probably 10 who got straight a's through high school. unless ec's, essays, and recs are absolutely incredible i wouldn't count on it.

Princeton open says that they don't consider 9th grade. I'm not aware of any other Ivys that has openly upheld this notion, but generally, freshman grades don't matter that much.
