9th Grade Year

Do all colleges look at your 9th grade (freshmen) year? All private colleges, that is.
I'm shooting for UChicago and places like that. Do UChicago and other private colleges look at the 9th grade year? If yes, is 10-12 more important?
Thanks for your feedback.

Most top schools, including UChicago, consider your freshman year grades. However, schools such as Princeton, Stanford, and the entire UC system do not consider them. Bad freshman grades can drag down your rank significantly, though, so the ideal situation would be to do well all 4 years of high school.

Well, it’s not too much.
I’m trying to keep myself to 1 B per semester at most, but 2nd semester Freshmen year I got 2 B’s.

^ That should be fine. Just continue doing your best throughout the rest of high school, and don’t slack off. Good luck :)

Many schools, the most prestigious being Stanford, Princeton, and the UCs, don’t consider freshman grades.

But they do consider class rank. And if you bombed freshman year, even if you maintain All A’s for the rest of high school, it’ll be near impossible to get back into the top 5-10% of your class.

Bottom line: if you got one or two B’s in frehsman year, it won’t matter for top schools. But one or more C’s will hurt you, no matter what grade you’re in.

Hope this helped.
