Hi, can anyone tell me what U.S. colleges don't look at your freshman (9th grade/year) grades? The only one I know about is Stanford. Thanks in advance.

There is a search button at the top of the page. You should try it.

I did, hence how I knew Stanford was one, but I was looking for a more recent lists since schools policies may change over time.

If you had looked at more than one thread you would have also found UMich, Princeton and the UCs.

Thanks but only the UCs? I read it was all public schools in Cali or is this info wrong?

Some high school systems are only 10-12, with 9 being in junior high or middle school. But the majority of high schools are 9-12 . That being said, they will see those 9th grade scores. Whether they consider them or not depends on where you end up after 11th grade. Colleges will only see 12th grade scores normally after the admissions cycle is over. Grades 10 and 11 are the most important and they want to see a steady improvement. If you did poorly in 9th grade, then fix it now. If by the end of 11th grade and first semester of 12th grade you have significantly improved, then that will be considered. What they dont want to see is doing well in 9th grade and then going down hill.

Some colleges will look for any reason to dump your application because they are so competitive, they only want perfect students. Is that the school for you? Doubtful. You would not be happy there, likely.

Do your best and when you reach 12th grade, focus on the schools that match your grades and SAT scores and which fit your personality and interests. College is hard work, but its also supposed to be a learning experience, growing up and having some fun. Its too important to be miserable at a school where you dont fit in. Good luck.
