hey, m an admitted international student for fall 2013 majoring in comp engg, UIUC. since i need break housing, m considering housing in PAR n ISR. both r gud, but knowing dat illinois is cold, is der really need for a.c.(ISR)? ISR is closer to engg campus but PAR(non a.c.) has amazing food. please do help..tnx

Most halls do not have AC. The hottest period of the school year will be in August when 90s can still happen. September can also have a number of days above 80. From about the end of September through the time you leave in May AC is usually not needed although a hot day or two can occur in October or May. you can have years that come along very seldom. For example in 2012, we had the warmest March in history with temps in the 80s half the month and 70s the rest, but that may never happen again in your lifetime. In March 2013 we stayed below 40 almost the entire month.

Also be aware that ISR has only a limited number of openings for freshman and many who choose it don’t get in because it has a large contingent of upperclassmen.

thnx drusba, il probably choose PAR now. also, are the rooms heated in winter? coz i read dat heaters r nt allowed and i have nvr experienced cold winters like in illinois. m a bit concerned bout dat :(

All buildings and rooms are heated. You won’t lack in that category in UIUC or anywhere in Illinois.

thnx agn! :)
