a capella groups

What is the a capella scene like at WU? Is there a group that stands out?

tons of a cappella groups on campus. there's about 10 main groups:
Mosaic Whispers (co-ed)
The Amateurs (co-ed)
After Dark (co-ed)
The Stereotypes (all male)
The Pikers (all male)
The Greenleafs (all female)
The Aristocats (only Disney)
More Fools Than Wise (madrigals)
Deliverance (Christian)
STAAM (Jewish)

the main co-ed ones are really quite good... they continually appear on national CD compliations, like BOCA (best of college acappella) and Voices Only. there's a very well publicized and organized auditions process at the beginning of the year where they take in new freshman. rehearsals are about 6-7 hours a week, and they'll preform gigs off-campus for money and for some university functions. they have their own websites so you can google and probably get samples of songs they sing.

all groups produce CDs every two years or so. there's a very nice recording studio in the new student center. all the groups have their own big yearly concert, usually in Graham Chapel, which are pretty popular to go to.
