So I am interested in applying RD to GW, but I have a few questions. I would like to double major in the business school - Economics & Public Policy and International Business. Is this possible; is this doable? On the course load note, I am predicting having 48 credit hours from AP exams. Does GW set any limit to the amount of hours one can receive from AP scores? Also, how is the business school viewed? I am interested in sort of the crux of Business and Government so I feel like GW is the perfect place, but I want to be in good standing when it comes time to apply to law school or to find a job... Also, do I have a chance for the presidential scholarship? Stats: 33 ACT, 2190 SAT, Top 2% competitive high school, TONS of Leadership, 11 AP classes, 96.5/100 UW avg.... Thanks for the help!!!

honestly, i’d apply to the honors program. it’s really the best of both worlds and you have a good shot if you put time into the essays. that can set you up really well to do something like Hopkins SAIS postgrad.

Please note that your AP credits will not count towards your GPAC requirements (basically your general education requirements, classes you HAVE to take to graduate), but they will count towards your major / the number of credits you need for graduation! =]

Definitely apply to the honors program. All of my roommates are in it and they love it. (I’m in the Politics & Values program and am applying to be Honors my sophomore year). Its 100% worth it, especially since Honors is such a close community!

Hi, I’m in the business school. Yes there are limits to how many credit hrs you can get from AP. I don’t remember exactly how many, but it’s in the 20s. Kinda low I know… I believe our requirements are different from what ezbreez is saying because 1) I’ve never heard of GPAC (must be the Columbian school) 2) I’ve AP’d out of a lot of the requirements that I need to graduate. The only class you can’t AP out of are University Writing and Writing in the Disciplines. I’ve AP’ed out of many of my requirements such as econ, science, humanities electives, math. So next semester I’m practically a sophomore in her freshman year, taking sophomore classes.
Yes it is possible to double major in those two fields. In fact, they’re the exact same fields I’m double majoring in too! The business school is mostly known for international business. This program has been consistently ranked high by many critics. (Beats georgetown lol.) Since you’re into business and govt, gw would be great because it’s near the World Bank, IMF, and Dept Commerce, etc. Not sure if undergrads are allowed to intern at the World Bank though…
Anyway, you definitely qualify for scholarships. I got one and my stats were very similar to yours.

@Esthetique, GPAC are our general education requirements. It might not be for the Business School but I’m not 100% sure at this point (all I know is that they’re a nuisance!).
