Sorry if this is kind of a stupid question, but when they say that "credit hours" can be awarded through AP scores, do they mean that I can choose to not take an introductory semester class?

For example, if I got a 4 on the econ micro exam, and the chart says that either a 4 or a 5 can be awarded for "3 hours of credit", does that mean that I can completely skip the intro to econ course?

Yep!

Here’s the official link - [Advanced Placement (AP) Credit - The George Washington University](http://www.gwu.edu/apply/undergraduateadmissions/applytogw/bringingcredittogw/apcredit)

Max AP credit is 24Cr. Hoever, nothing gets you out of University Writing UW020 - everyone takes this freshman year.

sweeeet. thanks CJ!

another question that might be a little specific (and a little stupid)… I’m on the blackboard advising system and the spread that lists all the possible electives says “choose one course” from the humanities section, “choose two courses from the SAME area” in the science section, and “choose one course” in the political science area; i’m pretty confused right now, does this mean that i can ONLY take ONE elective from the humanities department, and that i have to take two science electives!!!

I was kind of wondering this as well but it was better described to me by my advisor. I have the same sheet for the GWSB(not sure of your school) but he basically said that there were basically our list of classes we need to take for our general curriculum requirements that expose us to liberal arts and not only business. This at least made sense to me…

I’m in business too!
So are those the only classes that we’re allowed to take? Or can I take classes that are NOT on the list but are on the master schedule?

Also, where/when do we sign up for the FYDP classes? I can’t find them on the master schedule.

There is a paper on the GWSB folder from CI that tells you when the FYDP is and what not. I seem to think you are international so that may be why you do not have it, maybe the advising office has a copy they can email you. If they cant help you, i could scan it and email it to you.

It seems like these are the mandatory electives and then we have to take non-business and humanities electives in addition to our unrestrictive electives…It seems a bit confusing to me but this is just what i understood…

Hope this helps!

Zach

thanks zach!
hahaa yeah im international. ill email the office and ask them for a copy. thank youuu

Actually, Zach, could you send me a copy of that document about the FYDP? I emailed the advising office and they were very vague—just said that we will be “assigned as appropriate” in the fall. Is it still ok if you scan it and email it to me? Thanks a lot!
