<p>Retirement IS a huge consideration. Our accountant as well as our financial advisor practically commanded us to keep funding retirement, even if we're not putting enough into our kids' college funds. We're self-employed, so nobody else is helping make sure we're set in a few years!</p>
<p>OP, just remember that your parents owe you NOTHING at this point. You are very fortunate that they are willing to contribute as much as they say they will. I don't mean to sound uncaring, but that's the way it is. We've told our kids we'll do what we can, but we aren't going to guarantee that each of them will even get the same amount of money as the others.</p>
