A Day at _____ college

<p>Hi</p>

<p>I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I thought this would be a good place to share a typical day in your school. Maybe its just me but the atmosphere and location of a college is pretty important. I'm sure other people will find this info useful in making thier college decisions.</p>

<p>Post your College/university name at top, then just describe a typical day in your college + activities/atmosphere</p>

<p>Doing 10 projects all week and then sitting in my apartment on the weekends b/c there is nothing to do and I do not know anyone.</p>

<p>York College</p>

<p>Monday - wake up whenever, do homework, go to work from 2-5, go to a group meeting from 5:30-6:30, then go to class from 6:30-9:15. then i had a meeting for habitat from about 9:30-10/10:30 depending on if we had one meeting or two. Then come home and either work on some homework or watch a movie with friends.</p>

<p>Tuesday - wake up, go to class from 8-9:15, then go to Sparts and take a nap on a couch, then go to class from 11-12:15, then go back to sparts and get lunch, and shoot pool with friends till i would go to work from about 2-5, then i'd come home and eat dinner, then i'd do some work and hang out with friends if i got a chance.</p>

<p>Brown University</p>

<p>Weekday:
Get up at 8:15, get dressed and stuff, go to breakfast, class for no more than ~2hrs in the day, waste time/do work till around 5, get ready for fencing practice which is 5:30-7:30, then shower, eat dinner, work, talk with people, go to sleep.</p>

<p>Weekend: Wake up at like 11-12, eat lunch, sometimes do work, recently i've been going to football games (atypical though, I looove going to sporting events which is not a very common thing here) then do work, then go out and party usually.</p>

<p>MIT</p>

<p>Get up at 8:15, get dressed/makeup/check email/Internet/breakfast. Class from 9:30-11, 11-12, 12-1, and 1-2:30. (Grab lunch somewhere in there and eat in next class.) Research at the lab from 2:30-6. Go home, eat dinner, watch TV, get ready for cheerleading practice. Cheerleading practice 8-10. Go home, do a little bit of homework, cuddle with the boyfriend, get ready for bed, sleep around 1 AM.</p>

<p>Washington and Lee University</p>

<p>Friday:
Get up at 9:00, jog, shower, breakfast, class from 10-11, lunch, work-study from 12-2, class from 2-3, homework/relaxing/chores from 3-9, random frat parties (often with bands) from 9-12, late night frat parties (often with DJ's) from 12-1,2,3 or even 4AM.</p>

<p>UMass Amherst</p>

<p>Wednesday:
Wake up at 7:30, breakfast, go to class 9:05-10:00, another 10:10-11:00, then at 12:20, then lunch with friends at 1:10. Relax/do homework until class at 4, fast dinner, discussion at 6. Hang out with friends and go to bed whenever since I don't have class on Thursdays.</p>

<p>Friday:
Wake up at 7:30, go to breakfast, two classes in a row, then use the rest of the day to do laundry/talk to friends/do homework. In the evening I hang out with friends, party or watch a movie or just talk, go to bed at around 2 or 3</p>

waste time till 4
band 4-6 (MW only)
dinner with ppl from band
work / tv till I go to bed (prolly 2ish)</p>

<p>there are days where I have meetings, and do volunteer work as well. And sometimes I play Ultimate or something with people around midnight.</p>

<p>Lynchburg College</p>

<p>Tuesday:
Up at 7/8-ish
Class 8:30-10am
Generally 11:30 lunch (unless I need to study or something)
1-4pm Anatomy lab
Residence Hall Assoc. Exec board meeting-6:30pm
Anatomy study session 8pm</p>

<p>Wednesday:
Up at 8ish
Class 9-1
Lunch
study or bum it
Some kind of meeting at 6 (varies)
Soph. rep. meeting at 8</p>

<p>On thurs I don't have the lab so I work at 3pm, and on friday I don't have the 12pm class and I go to work at 1pm. Other days..stick in some meetings and soccer practice/games and there ya go.</p>

10-10:55, homework, email, phone, etc
11:10-12 Sociology
12-3:50 (M,W) relax, homework, laundry, lunch, etc On Fridays this time extends throughout the night and involves little homework and much socializing
4:10-5:30 (M,W) American Studies
From 5:30 on it's dinner, homework, phone, socializing, etc
bed between 10 pm and 1 am depending on how sick I am that day, how much work, etc</p>

<p>T,Thurs
wake up about 7 breakfast at 7:30
8:10-9:30 Ecology and Values
9:30 until bed- homework, socializing, LAUNDRY, meals etc</p>

<p>Friday and Saturday nights there are socials in the res hall, and we go see a lot of movies in the student union building. Hockey season starts in a week and a half, and football season is underway.</p>

<p>Southeastern Louisiana University</p>

<p>Hmmm...a typical day? Haven't had one of those in awhile. How about a modified typical day?</p>

<p>Monday, Wednesday, Friday:
Wake up at 9:00 am after about four hours of sleep because roommate's boyfriend who goes to school at LSU HAD to play his guitar to her over her speakerphone.
Go to Survey of Mass Communications class.
Grab lunch at the crappy cafeteria.
Go to psychology at 12:00. Maybe take test...depending on how many people are there, and out of those who are, how many are displaced students who need to catch up on the material.
Go to English at 1:00
Be one of only 7 people out of the 37 in the class to show up. The rest took off to get back into New Orleans to check out their houses.
Flirt with really cute National Guard soldiers that are camping out in our Kinesiology building, and the Pennington Athletic building.
Go to Percussion Ensemble at 2:00
Check out whatever entertainment they have near the union. Sometimes a band, sometimes a space walk, sometimes food, etc...
(Monday only) Go to Introduction to Communications at 4:30
Get some dinner at cafeteria or union.
Flirt again with some cute National Guard guys.
6:30-bed Try to do homework while people pile into dorm room to watch tv (36 inch...biggest one around)</p>

<p>Tuesday, Thursday:
Wake up at 10:00
Get lunch at cafeteria (ummm...make your own pasta)
12:30 Go to History of Theatre with hot teacher.
2:00 Film Criticism. Watch cool movie teacher picked out.
Free for the rest of the day. Watch Nip/Tuck, House, and Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe (who is an uber cool guy that I interviewed for my communications prospectus)
(Thursdays) 5:00-7:30 Special Studies in Literature: Pop Culture in Film. We watch movies and write journals on various aspects of pop culture. Sometimes she provides pizza.</p>

<p>I love my schedule this semester. Not to mention it is pretty much a "Katrina" semester so we have been taking it easy. This week is midterms... "Katrina" midterms, which means they are slightly easier.</p>

<p>Rutgers University</p>

<p>Weekday
Get up at around 10, get dressed eat
Ride the bus to whatever campus my class is
Class from 12 until about 6
Eat dinner, hang out with people, do hw</p>

<p>The evenings are different everyday. You either go out or stay in. Otherwise, it's going to class, coming back from class, going to another class, coming back, getting lunch, going to another class, coming back, etc. There's a lot of timing involved with college. After class it's up to you. Either call friends, go to some meeting, or stay in.</p>

<p>yea, very helpful. Academics is priority number one for me, and I would think most other college hopefuls, but getting an insight into the everyday life at different colleges is really helful.</p>

<p>To be more serious than my last post, here's my schedule:</p>

<p>Monday and Friday
Get up around 9
Go to Software Design class at 10 and then Macroeconomics at 11.
Grab some lunch and take it back to the apartment and eat.
**** around, do homework for the next few hours.
Go out somewhere to eat (99% of the time by myself).
Come back and **** around some more. Work on major assignments due later on. (Not Friday though.)
Chat with people online for a couple of hours or play some video games/watch a movie.
Bed at 2 or 3 am.</p>

<p>Tuesday and Thursday
Get up at 9.
Go to Databases class at 9:30
Lift weights in the gym during my gap between classes. Sometimes with a friend.
Go to my Statistics class at 2
Go to my Philosophy class at 3:30
Grab some food to take home at 5
Maybe look for some club or event to go to but usually can't find anything worth trying out.
**** around, do homework, chat online for the rest of the night.
Go to bed around 2 or 3 am.</p>

<p>Wednesday
Same as Monday except I have a programming class at 6 - 8:40ish.</p>

<p>Weekends
Get up around 12.
Eat.
One day I usually go to the gym again and work out some more.
**** around and do nothing. Usually end up not doing much.
At night look for something to go to but 90% of the time I don't.
Go to bed around 4 am.</p>

<p>Pretty boring life I would say. =P</p>
