One of UMich’s topics is: “Describe a setback that you have faced. How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? If something similar happened in the future, how would you react?”

Does anyone see anything wrong with using one’s struggles with an eating disorder as a topic? It’s a very personal topic but it’s definitely a setback that I faced. Does anyone think it might be too taboo, or would be offputting with admissions people? I wouldn’t want it to be held against me in any way…let me know!

Don’t hijack the thread, but yes, it could be a bit offputting b/c they’re on the watch for ppl w/ psychological problems. They don’t want a suicide in the news or a shooting. I know it’s a stretch to go from anorexia to shooting, but that’s what some ppl think.

umm yeah it’ll be harder to write a good essay w/ a cliched topic but in another perspective it might show the admissions ppl your abilities as a writer, anyways i’ll give it a read if u still need readers

Haha nice hijacking! But the essay ideas I have are for the same Umich essay. Thanks for all the help guys and any more would be great!!! Just tell me and ill PM you!!
