Hi everyone! I just had a few questions in regards to my application. Any responses are appreciated.

How mandatory is it to send ALL SAT scores? I took the test back in March and scored lowest in all three parts compared to the other two tests I took in January and October. I just don’t see that it’s necessary nor efficient to pay for and send scores that don’t shed any positive light on my ability.
-
Also (and this question might not be needed because I haven’t entirely finished my app yet) is there any way to explain additional information about myself? On the common app, there’s a specific section dedicated to explaining bad grades and other pertinent information and I can’t find anything like that on the Georgetown application.

Finally, what types of questions do they ask at the interview? They’ll be my first one and I just don’t really know what to expect.
Thanks!
I just had my interview last week, and my interviewer asked pretty general questions. She started with “tell me about yourself” and also asked me about what projects I was working on and what my favorite classes have been. For the most part, we just had a conversation and it was less of a formal question-answers type of thing. She did ask me if I had any questions for her, so prepare questions about academics and student life!
The only caveat I would add is that I think it is considered an ethical violation if they ask for all test scores and you do not send in ALL test scores. I don’t know how they would find out, but if they ask for the info later and it turns out you didn’t give it to them, that could be a problem. I think sending all test scores may not shed light on your ability but it does shed light on your integrity. I think GT values that and sending all scores and explaining it will help.
Can’t answer number two, my son applied last year and I know he explained some things so I assume it is there somewhere. But it may be that he explained deficiencies in the context of his essays.
Don’t sweat the interview. They just want to make sure you are a normal teenager. Know some things about Georgetown. Show that you are interested in them (and not just because it is in DC and you want to work in politics–everybody does that. Set yourself apart).
The ask for all. You should send all.
Hi, I’ve recently submitted EA to Georgetown and here’s what i have to say about your questions
- When I went to send in my SAT scores on collegeboard it said explicitly that i had to send in all my scores (even the second one that i did absolutely terrible on). You could uncheck, but it’ll tell you Georgetown’s policy about how they want all your scores, and i really don’t want to jeopardize admission by hiding my score.
- don’t think i saw anything for additional info
- The interviewer I had was pretty easygoing, asked questions like “Tell me about yourself”, “what do you do outside of school”, “who’s your favorite teacher”, “do you see yourself focusing more on academics or extracurriculars when going to georgetown”, “what do you look for in a college” etc
Good luck!
