Questions on Application

Hey guys, I'm trying to finish my Gtown app today and was wondering if you would be willing to answer some questions that I have.

My main extra curricular is work. Should I put that under extra curriculars or under work experience. Also it asks how many hours per week. I work 35 hours a week during the summer and 20 hours a week during the school year. How should I put the hours in? Just in the middle at 25 or should I fill out 2 different collums or what? I plan on working at the job till I leave for college. Should I put as the ending date 8/25/11?

I took the SAT once in junior year during Feburary and bombed it (1820/1200) but I took the ACT 3 times and have recieved a 30, 31, and 33. Should I put the SAT onto the score thing?

My most important thing I did over the summer was work. However, I was planning on writing the second 1 page essay on how work has shaped who I am. Should I write about something else that I did during the summer?

Will post more questions as I progress through the app.

Since they give you a separate section specifically for “employment experiences,” I believe it would go there. As for the hours, I would either put 20/wk (since that’s what you work the majority of the time) or some kind of average. As for the end date, I’m currently working on my Georgetown application. I also have a job, but I was planning to leave the ending date blank (since I’m still employed).

For the SAT, Georgetown says that they’ll look at your highest M and highest CR across all tests you’ve taken, but for the ACT Georgetown says they only look at your highest composite score. Georgetown says they accept the SAT OR the ACT, so you only need to send in one test; since that’s the case, I don’t see any need to send anything besides your 33.

Regarding the essays, I’m honestly not sure if they want you to write about different activities or not. Sorry I can’t answer this one!

Good luck!

Emaytay213, georgetown has a policy that you have to send in all scores that you have taken I beileve.

“Georgetown accepts the ACT in lieu of the SAT. Applicants who take the ACT more than once will have their highest composite score considered in the evaluation process. The optional writing section on the ACT is not required, nor is the writing subscore used in the application review process.”

This is from their website under “Testing Requirements.” It doesn’t say anywhere that applicants are required to send all of their ACT scores. It didn’t say that for SAT scores either.

UVAorBust - my bad. I searched their website a little more and I found that they do request that you send all of your scores (although I believe that means either all of your ACT scores or all of your SAT scores).
